OMG thank you, Shelley, I loved that you get it about Cas's powers! ... People often forget that Cas is not 100% full angel anymore. He only got back, eh ... 15-20% maybe? ... of his angel grace. On top of it all, he was cut off from heaven which also was canonically a source of power for angels too. That's it ... you get it, Shelley. Sometimes when I read people's comments lamenting that Cas today is not the same as before ... duh ... we've been told why, y'all just forget about that little snippet of info, that's not the writers' fault... From Google, Gog and Magog are: In Ezekiel 38, Gog is an individual and Magog is his land; in Genesis 10, Magog is a man and eponymous ancestor of a nation, but no Gog is mentioned; by the time of Revelation 20:8 Jewish tradition had long since changed Ezekiel's "Gog from Magog" into "Gog and Magog". I also loved this episode very much, Shelley, and I'm glad you liked it too. We are getting nearer and nearer to episode 16, cannot wait to see it with you ....

For some reason I didn't put this episode on my fave episode list the first time I watched it, but rewatching it here now... I really love this episode. The scenes with Jack in the other world, the scenes with kinda bamf Cas and the talks he had with Dean and later both of the brothers. Plus the funny scene where Dean and Cas go fight Gog and Magog XD

Love this episode, and your reaction. We finally get to see Jack and in action too! He held himself in a fight, kept control and he's growing up! Love that Mary got the validation she needed for the deal decision, she did indeed make the right choice, even though it brought some bad. And bad ass Cas makes a return. That's what happens when you mess with the Winchesters!

I love this episode too! Listen! Cas was so hot this episode, i love assertive cas so much, it's no wonder that when Michael is back in the picture cas reverts back to soldier mode, it's also not a shock that cas would fry Donatello after he almost killed dean, the way cas ran to the dungeon to save dean, the only reason cas was just watching from a screen away from the dungeon and not with the boys is just so he can run to dean when dean's hurt 😂 i love it & the way cas looked at Donatello with so much rage after that i knew Donatello was dead that moment, hurting dean when cas is around is like asking to be killed 🤷🏻‍♀️ what else was gonna happen, cas even says it when Donatello tries to cast another spell and cas puts his hand on his mouth shutting him up, cas says "i won't let you or anyone hurt the people i love, not again", Donatello hurt the people cas love coughs dean coughs, so he won't let him do it again, cas taking off his suit jacket and his eyes glowing blue 🥵, okay imma stop thirsting, bringing back Michael gives us season 4 vibes so we get a glimpse of season 4 cas angel of the lord soldier, he was a soldier of Michael's once now he's a soldier for the other team, i love jack so much & I'm so proud of him!

I forgot how hilarious that scene was with Gog and Magog. "They are both equally pretty..." 😂

2023-03-04 17:20:48 I'm rewatching this reaction coz i love it so much and i have more to gush about, this episode is written by the great Meredith Glynn, my girl, i love her, all her episodes are masterpieces, i love how she writes for cas, she really knows how to write angel cas, after all she is the one who wrote Lily sunder has some regrets with fem cas, and they were badass, anyway, love that she uses the fact that cas knows every language that was ever invented!! He was able to translate to dean what gog and Magog were saying since they were speaking an ancient language, he knows even ancient and extinct languages since he's been watching humans for millennia, it's funny but also understandable why cas would be offended when dean suggests that maybe his enochian is tough coz that's his first language & dean's eye roll lol, they're so old married couple, jack was using his powers, no one is that good at making animal shadows

I don't think people forget that he lost some of his grace, i think people just don't like it, just like they don't like that his wings are broken now but more importantly i think it's how he's sometimes portrayed as weaker than he should be, like in no way he should be less capable of a fighter than dean, dean is only human, even with zero grace, cas was a worries for millions of years, muscle memory is a thing, he knows fighting techniques, they don't have to make him get beaten up all the time and being so helpless, so when he finally gets to be the badass warrior that he is it's no wonder people cheer

Well, you nailed it on the head Hasnaa, people didn't like it ... for me, if something is off that got into my enjoyment of the show, I will normally try to find a logical and reasonable explanation rather than the knee-jerk 'it's the writers' fault' because I want to enjoy the story. But as what I often see in comments, fans' goto answer is that the writers forgot about whatever ... Cas seemed weak in a fight nowadays ... what is the reasonable explanation, as Shelley did ponder. And there you go, she managed to find a canonical answer that is the extension of the story that we didn't particularly see or given to us spoon-fed like ... and she can continue to enjoy the story more. We can headcanon too that when Cas was heaven's warrior, his fights might mainly involve magical powers so when he was depowered, those powers also disappeared. He had to adapt to new fighting skills using physicality these days (Cas was a beam of celestial light before) and those skills needed time while unlearning previous magical fighting skills too. He might also have to rely on brute force more rather than tactics as compared to Dean in my opinion - but we don't have the time to see these things in a tv show. What they've shown previously when Cas fights magical/mythical creatures, from a Watsonian perspective, it was a grand and good visual to show us that he excels in fighting skills rather than showing him using magical ones (again - angels are beams of light). From Doylist's perspective, it's cheaper than using special effects. And when he lost those powers .... The same with his wings (of which I had already replied to you previously). We just need to take our imagination further is what I am saying ...

Jack did use his powers. In creating the shadow animals. Also remember, this is not our Bobby, so he's not going to be as sweet. He's been through a heck of a lot.

I find it interesting that at the beginning of the show you would say that ANY life was worth saving, and now you say the greater good is worth killing Donatello. Not saying you're right or wrong, just that your reasonings have changed since the beginning of the show.
