Based on your description, I'm going to call Joe Dawson, "Good Vibes Joe" from now on. "you're like his Giles" I knew you'd like the idea of watchers: the coat, the outfit even the bookstore definitely gives a bit of a blueprint for early season Gile's looks and the library in Buffy imo The hand to hand fighting in this episode was already better than anything in S1. I think the new intro is an upgrade. Didn't love the clunky writing in the S1 opening. Thematically it makes more sense for a watcher (Good Vibes Joe) to do the voiceover as opposed to Duncan giving his own history. The song still rocks in both openings though

Welcome to season 2! Shelley, you naturally would not have known, but you have seen Jim Byrnes (who plays Joe Dawson) before. He has a very brief scene as an anthropology professor in the infamous SPN episode Bugs. 🙌. Another reason I don’t consider Bugs as bad as people say.

Lefwyn

In a different genre, he was also excellent in Wiseguy, 1987-90. Another great show. :) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0092484/

YES! I absolutely LOVED Wiseguy. Jim Byrnes had a great role in it. I’ve got it on DVD around here somewhere….

Gabriel Mauller

Jim Byrnes is an excellent Blues guitar player, singer, actor……. Made this show go from good to great!

I did not remember this being such a clip-heavy episode. But you had a good point about why that might have been.

ArsTropica

A bit of interesting trivia that was never covered in the show (so, not technically a spoiler). Horton used to be the Kurgan's watcher. That's probably what sent him over the edge.

Trevacious

Ha! Okay, I could see him becoming more crazed in that job.

Trevacious

Yes, I can still bring a montage to mind of him being all of that. So many moments ahead.
