While I did love most of this season, I have to admit that this was a massive let down of a finale. With such an incredible build up being wasted so quickly, it's sort of heartbreaking. With Anthony Starr still so very solid as the maniacal Homelander and Jensen Ackles stealing scenes as Soldier Boy, I cannot help but feel a little cheated and scared they're showing signs of going for quantity over quality. The rest of the cast was okay but even Butcher, who is one of my faves, had some oddly low points even after a deeper dive of his history in episode 7. Overall the characters and story progression felt way too thin now that I am looking back at the whole season. it lacked tension and really was all over the place...just not in a good way. The over bloated cast and tangled plotlines never got time to breath which really detracted from what it could have been while the great fight sequences still didn't patch up the holes or wasted time. Did they delay the fallout of the revelations so they could drive through to next season or was too much wasted by pushing the whole Gen V spinoff? Was anything supposed to be accomplished or improved? Hopefully I'm wrong about and it's gonna be a real knockout in season 4.

I regret one thing about my watching of this season: I have to acknowledge it as a character flaw of mine since it manifested as hearing myself mutter "No! No… Don't you hurt'im. Don't you hurt'im…" out loud -- by myself -- about Soldier Boy of all people. I am not too proud to admit my failings. p.s. Kripke is an evil genius. p.p.s. It's a beautiful thing when a fight scene is not just a fight scene but is used to reveal and further character development. The whole back third of this episode is stunning.

I will admit to enjoying the fight scene more after a few rewatches. I think too much was happening too fast for me to truly enjoy it the first time around...along with being stressed over what they were going to do to Soldier Boy :)

You're not alone in rooting for Soldier Boy in the fights (and me enjoying the delivery of his non-misogynistic remarks)

I admit that I kinda hate Annie. She's too perfect, too sanctimonious. She's worked with the worst of the worst for years, but all of a sudden all she cares about is killing Soldier Boy (who I think can't be killed)

After watching that last scene, you can't tell me that taking out Homelander and possibly defusing Ryan, wasn't the right way to go.

I'm glad about Maeve, too, She deserves that happy ending.

So it turns out Black Noir's biggest tormentor wasn't SB, but HL. According to Kripke, this version of Noir is dead, but another version may come back.

I think Mallory will end up releasing SB. HL took Ryan from her and Butcher refused to answer her call.

This whole ending pissed me off because SB and Maeve were the onlyones to stick to the plan. And Frenchie concocting the world's greatest neurotoxin without the proper protection and in what five minutes? Pure BS.

Really disappointed in this finale. SB could've taken HL out and then they could've dealt with SB.

Really enjoyed this season overall. It was more dark and held a mirror even closer to real life events which was equally satisfying and depressing all at the same time. I struggled with understanding some of the decisions that some of the characters made during the season but for them to all meet collectively in the final was so epic I can look past it. I did not get the level of satisfaction that the season 2 final delivered but the fight sequence was epic. Hated Soldier Boy but loved Jensen portrayal of him. My only negative is The Deep storyline - the comic relief worked in S1 & 2 but it is just old now to the point I hope he is killed off by his fishy friends next season. Side note: Villain of the season goes to TODD!

I agree. Overall it was a great season, but honestly what was accomplished?

Ryan in the clutches of HL, Victoria about to become VP, Butcher dying. What a dismal result. There should've been some movement, other than character wise. We could've had HL & Ryan depowered, and HL learning that he's not a god and how to deal. What a great premise for S4 that would be.

Here's the problem with having the main villain be a main character along side the heroes. The show will not kill Homelander too early so this whole season was him seemingly gaining the upper hand but ultimately doing nothing with it and all the times he should have been taken down he gets away with it. So in terms of plot the only thing that changed was getting Ryan
