The way I interpret the whole human/soul thing. Is that you're human in species only. Walking, talking homo-sapien with all the same physical qualities. But without a soul, Sam was basically an animal. No humanity in his eyes, just indifferent to everyone and everything around him. Including himself. The only thing he cared for was his own survival. By any means necessary. So he's a human man yes, but without a soul... the thing inside you that makes you care about others; you've pretty much lost what actually makes us who and what we are. Sorry if that seems confusing as hell. Even I dunno if I summarized it okay lol

The next episode is one of my favourites and I think you will love it too.

From William S. Paley (Paleyfest) 2011 panel, I am going to copy & paste part of the transcript that of Jensen's thoughts about playing Dean against Soulless Sam. I loved Jensen's response, it was a very honest answer and a bit surprising to me that he didn't quite like it. __________ JENSEN: [describing how difficult to play Dean for how long to Soulless!Sam]... To build a relationship, with not only the actor but the character for five years, and then to have that relationship severed, but then to still have to work with that person, was very difficult, for me as an actor. And it’s a testament to what Jared was doing and he was doing great as soulless Sam. But he wasn’t playing a character that I’m used to working with. So I struggled with it as an actor. In fact, I called down and talked to these guys (indicating Sera Gamble, Eric Kripke, and Ben Edlund) about it. I was feeling way out of my comfort zone and I didn’t know what was going on, and I just didn’t have those tools to use any more that I had for the last five years.... playing Dean the way that I’m used to playing Dean. It was difficult, but it was a good storyline. ___________ If you can find later the video after this S6, it was such a fun panel (but of course spoilers for the rest of the season), especially about the part when Misha & Jensen told the story of how their first scene went on in Lazarus Rising, whereby Misha first started acting using his gravelly voice in the barn (Castiel’s voice is not Misha’s normal voice). He threw Jensen off with his acting choices, but Jensen's way of telling the story ("... DID HE AUDITION?") was so hilarious. He is such a good storyteller. I died laughing no matter how many times I watched the video.

I had some sympathy for the Skinwalker dude, but not too much cause I found it hella creepy he was watching her in the shower, as a dog. *shudder* Lol!

It occurred to me that maybe I should put the link here so we can all feast our eyes on the beauty and chemistry of the boys and Bobby. The bit I mentioned in the above thread, is around the 4.18 mark till the end, no spoiler in that section. However, the moderator did mention an episode title for later in the season around the 5.13 to 5.17 mark, so maybe don’t pay attention to her when she speaks or mutes the volume, I guess? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7a7x-iH1Iw&t=111s

this has always been one of the more "meh" episodes for me and one i never rewatch so it has been interesting revisiting it, I am very invested in watching Jared play souless sam it is so so different to our sam he does a brilliant job i think its one of the best aspects of these less than brilliant episodes but yeah I am starting to miss Sam now

I love the real sam and miss him, but i also really love soulless sam😂 he’s so sassy and intense with his whole «idgaf» attitude! This is one of my favorite seasons and i really love your reactions

I think Veritas (cat goddess) has never heard of a living human without a soul or knew how a soulless person will react to her. So when she came across Sam, that looks human, but is immune to her, she assumed it's some sort of creature, unknown to her, but not human.
