Hi All,

I am excited to share my latest video with you all! In this video, I delve into the world of Cairo Tiling - a fascinating tiling pattern that is not used as much as it should be. Named after its use as a decorative pattern in Cairo, this tiling is both aesthetically pleasing and mathematically intriguing.

While working with this tiling, I discovered many interesting things that I just had to share with you all. I even think that there's still more to be said about Cairo Tiling, which means you can look forward to another video on this topic soon.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this video. So, please do let me know what you think in the comments section. As always, your support and encouragement are greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your continued support!

Live Coding: Cairo Tiling Explained!

You probably know that you can tile the plane with triangles, squares and hexagons. But did you know you can do it with pentagons? While the pentagon has to be skewed a little, this is possible, and it makes for a beautiful, geometric-yet-organic looking pattern called a Cairo tiling, that isn't nearly used enough. In this video we will create this tiling from scratch, in the hopes that it will be used more in the future! ========== Timetable ========== 0:00 - Intro 2:33 - Explanation 4:34 - ShaderToy 5:36 - Coding Starting Pos 6:38 - Square Pattern 14:33 - Angle Range 15:48 - Repeat Pattern 20:32 - Distance 23:55 - ID 27:49 - Hash Function 29:00 - ID 31:20 - Function 32:15 - Blinking Effect 33:43 - Outro ========== Social Media Links ========== Twitter: @The_ArtOfCode Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/theartofcode/ Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/TheArtOfCode ShaderToy: https://www.shadertoy.com/user/BigWIngs PayPal Donation: https://paypal.me/theartofcode FX Hash (NFTs): https://www.fxhash.xyz/u/The%20Art%20of%20Code GitHub: https://github.com/BigWings2020/ArtOfCode ========== Other videos to watch ========== ShaderToy for complete beginners: https://youtu.be/u5HAYVHsasc Writing a ray marcher: https://youtu.be/PGtv-dBi2wE
