This right here is a near-finished episode that I've been hammering away at for months. It is the longest New Frame Plus episode yet and has BY FAR been the most challenging edit.

Note that this is NOT necessarily the final render! And the end slate links aren't properly set up or anything. If I (or you) catch any lingering errors, those will be fixed for the official upload version.

I loved the video. I'm not an animator but I am a game character artist. The subject matter is different but my experience getting that first job (still at it after 4 years) was similar to a lot that you described! Once this video comes out, I'll be showing it to the students that come ask me for advice. It translates really well to other art roles in the industry. You're definitely an optimist, Dan. Most people I know in the industry love to complain about bad management, less pay than in advertisement and vfx industirs, development hell, etc. But in the end we all love the job and it's nice to get such a positive take on the whole thing. It's a heck of a mountain to climb but it's worth it when you're doing what you love doing as a job. I'd like to know more about the reality of the industry in the US, one day. Europe has a way smaller industry, especially in the AAA space and a lot of people, like me, have to move countries to even find a studio, never mind getting a job in one. @Jody Buchanan, not really. Rigging falls under the tech art umbrella. Digital sculpting is more prevalent in character art and sometimes environment art. If digital sculpting is your jam, I'd consider taking a look at character art :)
