RELEASE DATE DELAYED. Continuing Wrap Up part 8 (Patreon)
Content
The release date for v0.8 has been delayed by 2 weeks. The new release date window will be 11/14/20. It's the first delay I've ever had to do but the game just needs a bit more time to iron out some features.
The last beta pre-release had a personally disappointing level of bugs despite still being able to test out the new things. This prompted a rewrite of certain backend things that will require a bit of time to improve. I've been doing lots of polishing and improvements to ensure that the new physics system is as close as to the regular non-physics system from before.
This means that there will be yet another beta pre-release in roughly 9 days. Some of the bugs I encountered were lolis unable to walk upstairs and random launches (some were funny).
These 2 bugs have been fixed. Additionally, lolis would often become stuck to each other since their physics bodies would constantly collider if they were going into different directions. This has also been addressed.
Overall the main culprit is physics. Physics has introduced A LOT of variability that sometimes produces outcomes that are hard to prepare for. Yesterday I did another pass onto the overall feel of ragdolls and I implemented a way to interact with them in a more civil way. When you pick up characters now, they will only start to wail if you mess with them. Otherwise they will just turn into "dolls". The new logic backend for this now allows you to "play" with the doll and see it react (Poking, kissing, etc.) while still retaining the ragdoll mode.
This along with making them get less stuck in walls has improved the overall feel of them. Hugging is being improved as well to feel more organic.
Commanding groups of lolis has been improved yet again and no longer requires holding the aim button to select them. It is now a much simpler single click to select them. This prevents random selections when trying to pick up items. Additionally, pointing to the floor and telling them to wait at a location now requires a double click to prevent the aforementioned accidental commands.
We also have a new developer who will help with some bugs and gameplay fixes.
This extra time should ensure that the launch version feels more stable. These lolis, they take time.
Stay tuned!
