The Crayon Fund: Ottawa School of Art (Patreon)

Hello lovely Patrons, 

I wanted to post a little something hear about The Crayon Fund and the absolute magic a community can do. Most of you know this, but over on Twitch there is a riotous group of supportive chaos goblins (many of whom are also Patrons *waves*) and they are some of the most relentlessly wonderful humans I've ever encountered. 

Since I started streaming on Twitch, the amount of support I've received from The Jesters has been absolutely life changing. It's also been really important to me that we do... SOMETHING with all that good. The "something" is called The Crayon Fund, and it's a portion of the profits from my Twitch channel that goes to somebody we think is doing something awesome. Typically that "somebody" is a community organization doing good work in the arts sector. Our most recent recipient of the Crayon Fund was the Ottawa School of Art - specifically their bursary and outreach programs that help get arts into communities that wouldn't normally have access to it. 

Thanks to the Jesters, we were able to buy a whole whack of art supplies for OSA, and I had the absolute privilege of visiting one of their programs during an art activity so I got to actually hang out with all the kids while they were painting pieces inspired by Canadian painters. These kids were in up to their elbows in paint and WE helped make that happen friends. The sheer joy of making - just that unabashed creativity - is something so essential and so powerful. I love that our community played a part in making that experience accessible.
