I know we were supposed to learn how to read music by playing the recorder, but... I didn't. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Cheap, accessible (didn't take up a lot of classroom space, easier to learn how to play (by ear or through reading music). I remember being grossed out about how many mouths touched it, even with "cleaning". Glad when my elementary music school teacher introduced ukuleles.

Also, several of the comics really hit close to home. The bar scale and the things that bother you ... yup yup and so much yup.

Hahaaaa okay these reasons all make sense. ALSO it always warms my heart when other people see my comics and go ‘ME TOO’

This got me thinking: Why not a Ukelele or a Kalimba? (that little instrument where you pluck the metals prongs with your fingers) then it struck me that what they wanted was something to keep your mouth shut.

BAHA oh my god you’re right - all those poor music teachers were probably like “okay if we havta listen to bad instrument playing we can AT LEAST keep them from shrieking along” 😂
