I think the importance of this episode was to show that even though astrid and hiccup are the best dragon riders they still have flaws and their relationship leads to impulsive decisions like Hiccup letting Astrid bring Garth even if it was a bad idea.

Ok the thing about this episode that i really like is that hiccup and astrid made the whole trouble and screwed things up that showed that even they can be silly and make bad decisions, afterall they are human too. And i wanted to point out the animation on the shadows is just amazing the details are crazy in this show like this episode when hiccup is arguing with astrid about not bringing garf to the battle field his shadow is moving so naturally which is so beautiful.
