Ok this is easily a top 3 episode in the entire series for many reasons: 1.) If you remember what Viggo said to Dagur before the Maces and Talons finale, aka his introduction, he said "A player must be willing to sacrifice all his pieces in order to be victorious." Additionally when Hiccup accepted his "game", the challenge to try and best Viggo for Heather's life, Hiccup picked up a piece of the Maces and Talons game, the traitor. In his own words, the way the game works is that "The traitor always dies". 2.) Hiccup has never betrayed himself. In the Wings of War parts 1 and 2, his father and even his fellow riders were thinking of betraying themselves and their morals, attacking to kill the Singetails, but Hiccup pursued and found an alternative way. Here in Viggo's final appearance, we see Viggo become the traitor. He betrayed what he was originally, a hunter, and went to help Hiccup. Being a traitor applies to both good and bad people, but in the end, Viggo betrayed himself, and in the end, he had to die because "The traitor always dies". And he had to sacrifice all his pieces, aka himself (The viking Chief) in order to be victorious, or to give Hiccup a better chance of being victorious. In the end, Hiccup won the game. He out smarted the best player with resilience and sticking true to his beliefs. And something incredible I like is how the writers made us feel bad for Viggo. I mean this is the only real-time he seemed to redeem himself, yet we feel like we lost a character we loved, despite how much bad he's committed before. Props to incredible writing.

Also another thing I love about this episode is how many TWISTS there are. Like serious. In this episode alone, we have: 1.) Viggo posing as Stoic to send Hiccup the letter 2.) The poisonous red oliander being fed to toothless 3.) Viggo finding the Skrill 4.) Viggo USING the Skrill (The untameable dragon) to attack Johan 5.) Viggo betray Hiccup 6.) Finding out Viggo didn't betray Hiccup 7.) Finding out Viggo was lying to Hiccup about the red oliander 8.) The Skrill getting captured 9.) Viggo's death Like it was BRUH moment after WHAT moment over and over. And not to mention it had EVERYTHING you liked in 1 episode: Lore, Viggo, Johan and the central plot, the Skrill. Oh and the Zippleback gas in Viggo's sword is a call to the 2nd movie. Turns out Hiccup was inspired by Viggo's innovative thinking and applied that into his sword in the 2nd movie, which is SUCH a cool detail and shows how much respect he had for him in the end. Also the Skrill is now officially Viggo's dragon. Or rather his symbol. Perfect I'd say. Both ruthless, intelligent, powerful. And the Skrill is as smart as a Nightfury and Toothless is basically a mirror of Hiccup so I'd say it was worth the Skrill not having a rider till now.

Viggos death hit the hardest throughout the series. We learned so much from him and he'll be remembered as the best villian🥲🥲

In the end Hiccup became Viggo’s accomplice because he knew that Hiccup would defeat Krogan and Johann, so henceforth in the end game Viggo became victorious thanks to Hiccup👍🙌
