Hello friends,

and welcome to Routine #9 of my Blues Self-Accompaniment Series! In our previous sessions we worked toward being able to blend chord shapes, licks, and bass lines to create a solo blues performance for acoustic guitar. In this session, we'll build on what we've learned thus far, while adding more advanced licks, turnarounds and shuffles. Let's get started!

Lessons in this Series: Note: Each routine gets progressively more difficult.

Rob, My hand is just too small to allow for the thumb over the top of the neck and any kind of decent tone on the treble side on measures 9 & 10 ...any recommendation on what to do instead?

Hey everyone, I just wanted to stop for a moment and thank you all for your continued support. I have big plans for this channel in 2018, and know none of what has been accomplished thus far would be possible without you. I've really appreciated your positive feedback, advice and friendly comments over the last several months, they're a huge source of motivation. If there's anything I can do to make this service more valuable to you, please feel welcome to reach out and let me know. My goal is to be the best guitar instructor on the web, and also a friend and helpful guide to each of you. Be well and enjoy your practice. -Rob

I've owned a guitar for many years but never knew how to play it until you taught me. Born and Living' with the Blues was a milestone lesson for me. For years I thought I wasn't good enough to play a full song while singing and staying in rhythm. I've learned so much from you in two months--my focus on your lessons has kept me out of bars/stores and my diet is better. My free time goes to guitar because you've made it fun to learn. Thanks Mr. Swift!

To me, you already are the best guitar instructor on the web. There is so much mutual gratitude here. It's incredible how you make me and others feel like you are speaking just to us, giving encouragement and belief. Each lesson builds on the others, so that now I can even problem solve. You are a true teacher of the how and love of music. That you care about all of us is evident. Thanks especially for giving how to play the blues so much priceless attentions, especially this loaded lesson. You make the sun shine.

Hey Luisa, it's an absolute pleasure. Thank you for all your positive feedback, it's a wonderful source of motivation. Many more blues lessons are on the way, as I plan to do a new series like this, but in the key of A. Have fun!

Sounds amazing Rob😊 overwhelming to see how much you can cover, such an all rounder you are😃not tried Blues at all. By the look of it feels challenging, sound of it is what motivates me to try but not immediately. As of now am fine tuning the classical finger style piece, thanks a ton for your lessons Rob😄👍👏👌😍

Hey Rob, love this series. I feel like following a series gives me more direction than my endless youtubing of random songs. So please, more of this type of structured learning!

swiftlessons

Hey Jon, thanks for letting me know. My plan for the year ahead is to provide these types of series. I have songwriting and rhythm courses in the works and also plan to work out another 10 blues routines in the key of A.
