Hello friends,

and welcome to another lead guitar tutorial. In today's session I'll be sharing with you a powerful lead guitar trick that is guaranteed to improve your playing instantly. The cascading harmony trick allows lead guitar players to navigate through their scales in a less predictable way by "stacking" the intervals, rather than running the scale verbatim. We'll begin by reviewing the major pentatonic scale, and it's upper and lower extensions before tackling this powerful technique. Let's get started!

Rob, I love this lesson. I’ve got thecascading down because it is listed in tab. The parts outside the cascading happens so fast I can’t tell what you are doing. Are you just jamming in the upper and lower box?

Great, Rob. The pdf makes all the difference. Question: I notice that what seems like most of the time, lessons that involve the pentatonic scale are either A or E. Is there a reason for that? I am so intrigued by the pentatonic scales but in spite of my practice, I get a sense that there's a critical piece of understanding that hasn't clicked yet. I think this lesson is going to help. Thanks.

Hi Rob, I am learning a great deal from your lessons, thanks. I am unable to download Tabs. Pls do let me know the Tabs I have can access. Appreciate your support. Thanks😊

Hey Sujaya, what device are you using? The tabs are accessible to everyone, but you have to set your security setting appropriately. I would not recommend using the app to download my PDFs.

Ok I’m very confused, in the video you start off with 12 even though you have 9 before that? Could you explain that to me? Or did you make a mistake when you were writing out the cords for it? Because when I look at the cords you written out for this pentatonic scale you say to start off on 12 even though you have 9-12 written on the screen. Please help I need clarity!! 😮

Hey Stephanie, I'm not sure if I understand your question. What I would recommend is that you take a look at the actual note names, you'll see that this scale is comprised of the notes E, F#, G#, B, and C#, It doesn't matter what note you start on in the scale, though I usually like to teach it starting from the lowest root.
