December Monthly Update (Patreon)

G'day, friends.

Hard to believe this will be the last monthly update of the year. I think this has been our longest consecutive streak of actually posting these things. Much like the last update, there's not a whoooole lot to share today, cause the big stuff will be later this month.

A week from today will be the 1-year anniversary of when we first announced "Lock and Key," so we're putting together something small but special for that. The game has come a long way since then, and we're excited to share more! Right now it's looking like a late 2021 release, but as always, that could change.

Please Be Happy should be out in the first half of next year. The rewrites that I mentioned in one of the last posts are coming along at a smooth rate, and adi's been making great progress on the GUI stuff. Just an hour or two ago, she finished up the design for the map, a WIP of which you can see here.

There will be several points throughout the game where you can choose who to visit next or where to spend your time. The map is based off a hand-traced map of Wellington, so it's pretty accurate! All of the locations other than characters' homes are real places. She also finished up some of the animal sprites, like Miho's fox form and one of Juliet's friends.

Finally, I'm glad to say that production for a lot of the Heart of the Woods Kickstarter items has begun. The paper dolls and pins should be printed soon, and a batch of the artbooks are done. Keychains and magnets have been waiting in storage for a while. Once everything is ready, it'll need to be shipped from overseas to the Sekai Project office in Los Angeles, which is where everything will be mailed from. We're hoping for shipping to start next month, but that mostly depends on when the items actually make it to California. As for the port status, we're still waiting for shareable news, but hope to have that around Christmas.
