Hello, what's up, it's me, adirosa! It's time to chat about SUMMER at the EDGE of the UNIVERSE... logo design!

It was kind of late. Like, we already announced the game. Oops. Our game needed a logo! So the start for this logo was a voice chat...

I kind of had a reputation for like. Big elegant designs. Script font on an illustrated element - Heart of the Woods, The Waters Above - so we all wanted something a little different. Something less elegant, more fun, bright, cute.

On call for the meeting, I pulled up my little notebook and drew ideas as I got them! I liked the idea of something that looked scrapbooky, handmade, bold, cute. Also I spelled summer as SUMMEB once and you can now shame me forever for that. So after chatting, lots of thoughts and ideas, my main inspiration became those iron-on patches for scouts and NASA. 5 was the one I went with!

Long titles are a certain sort of hell to mock up by hand, by the way. The name of this game is so long. Goodness.

So I went to work! I'm not sure if there's a lot of stuff to comment on here. I played around, did a bunch of colour tests, tried things out. I'm a huge fan of the name rainbow at the top, and all the character's colours ended up fitting well for it! We wanted something greeny bluey to suggest those solarpunky natural vibes, though it's a bit more blue than green, I think.

Then it was refining time! The ship I designed specifically for this logo, and that is a post you can find in our Patreon archives! Or just, y'know, click this.

I wasn't sure if I wanted to make it like the Earth below or not, but I decided to go with the starmap on the right! It's three colours for the three character routes of the game.

I think it's super cute, and we should make stickers of these.

Of course, not every situation is going to call for a giant circle badge logo, so I did some variations of the logo to use when necessary.

And these are the final versions! you can see what I exported, so it can be tweaked as necessary for each piece of media!

You can see it in action on the key visuals below!

Thanks for reading!
