Alpacas are relatives of llamas, the spitting is an instinctive tic of the species. There are tons of videos of them spitting on tourists all over the internet People seem to gloss over Linlin’s complexity as a character in favor of demonizing her as this scion of pure evil. But she’s a pretty tragic and multilayered character. Abandoned as a child, manipulated by the only people who claimed to care for her, and what does she do when she finally rises to power? She dreams of building a world where all races can live together as a happy family, and grows her own immediate family to further that ideal, all while obsessing over sweets. She is severely mentally regressed, a child in an emperor’s body. And if you remember Pierrot Le Fou, there’s nothing as pure or as wicked as a child. Seeing her in her amnesia arc after almost drowning is pretty bittersweet, in truth. It’s a snapshot of what could have been, if only she had had better role models around her. Think about the ally she could have been to our heroes, or those who came before. She’s an interesting case study of nature vs nurture, and in a way, she represents the black glass on the other side from Doflamingo, who was surrounded by the best of us, and still black-hearted from birth. Or Blackbeard, who only seems to care about growing his power and expanding his empire wherever possible, even at the expense of the people who were family to him
