are you caught up? OP is asspull central now. Tbh I'm completely fine w Oda being inconsistent with powerups as long as he comes up with a better "final war" than the wars we've been given. Large scale battles in one piece are always mid, even manga readers have noticed this weakness in Oda's writing

The beginning of this arc is easily the weakest part, seriously the seducing woods went on like 5 eps longer than it needed to imo. The good news is the pacing picks up somewhat after this, and that what comes next is one of my favorite moments in the show since water 7 lol Still, as good as all that is… I’m checking this page literally every day for those Vinlands and that mob finale. That’s where the real AAA gold reactions are rn ngl

Nah I have to disagree with this one. Pre-time skip have some decent fights. Like Luffy vs Cocodrile or Luffy vs Enel. I feel he keeps making other characters stronger to the point he is writing himself into a corner so he has to come up with some wacky solution for Luffy but we gonna see how Oda deals with big mom vs Luffy if that happens.

@Jack SV That is complete bs. One Piece might be the only battle shonen where this is NOT the case, that and Hunter x Hunter. Like please tell us where you see these asspulls? Everything Oda established long since is being utilized - complete opposite of an asspull. Like think about it, Luffy struggles with his fights the entire series, with very few exceptions - he is written to be a very talented genius at fighting, capable of climbing to top heights, yet he is paired against people who where in the game longer - that's why he loses; that's why he needs multiple rounds of fighting with rests in between, or to sometimes jump an opponent. The exceptions being some of East Blue, Drum Island - he is established as monster at fighting, so of course he beats nobodies, just like fodder moving forward. And (somewhat) fishman island, where he got beat up because of his natural weakness water, even if Hody was much weaker than him. Everywhere else - he worked for it, or straight up lost. Nothing changes even in the New World. He was even caught slipping by Ceasar Clown in PH, even he is only a mere subordinate of Doffy, who Luffy was fighting tooth and nail against. Here we have the same deal. Luffy getting beat up, and needing rests and the like. As for powerups, again I ask which ones? Like, Oda establishes Haki since the beginning, with Shanks, and later in Alabasta and Jaya propper, even name dropping it through Blackbeard. Then he unlocks it for characters way later down the road - for example, for Usopp, who by the way, is related to one of the best marksmen in the entire verse - Yasopp, part of you know, Shank's crew, so to think Usopp couldn't or that he isn't that guy when it comes to sniping, would be poor reading on your part and not asspulls. Oda picks up a power like shadows with Moria - establishes how it works, that it transfers abilities, when he steals Sanji or Zoro's shadows, etc., and then laters uses that to create Nightmare Luffy form. That is not an asspull. That is not "writing yourself into a corner". I have read One Piece for 7 times. Watched the anime 4 times (this is my 5th with the guys), and thought about so many aspects of One Piece writing throught 17 years I've been following it. If you want to throw out terms like asspull, or "writing oneself into a corner", you have to back something up first. Cuz you're just a plain hating, and don't actually read/watch.

I ain't reading all that either. The power levels are getting ridiculous and aren't earned AT ALL. MAJOR SPOILER ALERT BELOW, AVERT YOUR GAZE IF YOU AREN'T CAUGHT UP!!! We saw what Imu was looking at in that chamber and we now know Luffy's true devil fruit power. The guy was the chosen one all along, like what are you even talking about? Son of the most wanted man on the planet, grandson of the arguably strongest character in One Piece history (Roger ran away from him but was fine scrapping with Whitebeard), he is a D., it's always been said that he's like Roger (hinting that he's destined to be the next pirate king), his hat is special, he has the mysterious ability to make everyone his ally and he has a direct connection to joyboy through his devil fruit powers. What here is earned?? Yeah, he has been training but he was literally destined to be the king of like everything since birth it seems like. If Luffy didn't have a personality that reminded Rayleigh of Roger, he would have never trained him. Luffy didn't work on his personality, he was always like that.

Stop trolling, josh. Where did I say that it was even remotely earned? Him training is a minimum requirement for his jumps in power to even make a little bit sense. And we barely even see him train, what kind of training did Luffy do to attain gear 2 and gear 3? And the reason that I'm refusing to read his long paragraph is because of the points I made. You literally can't argue them, proven by the fact that you didn't even respond to a single one I made. The fact that Luffy was struggling in past fights is irrelevant, given the fact that he has been the chosen one all along. That's the major point. Him struggling was literally just an illusion because destiny had greater things for him in store. And now to drive my point home and expose anyone who believes otherwise as a lunatic: compare Luffy to Son Goku and say that everything Luffy has got is earned.

I just realized that sanji and his brothers names come from the japanese for 1,2,3 and 4. 1= Ichi = Ichiji, 2= ni = niji, 3 = san = sanji, 4 = yon = yonji
