I had to make some revisions to clarify that the video shows only the growing of legal, edible mushrooms.  Apparently there was some confusion about that from the YouTube censors.  Apparently they also thought I was selling mushroom supplements (?) I have no idea how they got that idea but I assure you I don't sell any supplements whatsoever, nor do I recommend you do this.  Please don't ask me for supplements, I repeat, I have nothing to sell, I make videos to teach, I have a "do it yourself" approach to life.  You can stream the video via one of the following links (they also allow downloading): Odysee or Google Drive:  Here is a smaller (1.7gig) version that is compressed but still high def (720p).  Here is a very high resolution (5gig) mp4 video file (1080p but may not be streamable, download only).  Tap or click the link, you can even increase the playback speed as on YouTube (on some phones you may need to install the "Google Drive" app to play it).  I could not put the full video on YouTube due to the censorship there (hopefully people will still be able to find it here, feel free to share the link to this post on other sites).

UPDATE TO THIS VIDEO: Several people have reported problems using millet.  It seems to stem from the fact that it is sometimes sold as "hulled millet" which does not work, but sometimes the "hulled" part is not in the description or on the label.  Because of that, and the fact that whole millet has become harder to find and a lot more expensive, I  recommend using whole oats (sold as horse food) or cheap wild bird seed (sold at every hardware store and most grocery stores) and just pick out the corn and few sunflower seeds (most will float in water and can be easily strained out).

Some people have objected to my use of hydrogen peroxide - it is totally optional, if you have good clean technique and clean environment it probably isn't needed, but H2O2 has been proven to be useful in growing mushrooms, see: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0304423810001020 and also see the work done by Dr. R.R. Wayne.

2 quarts verm 4 qts water and 1 brick coir (or 650-700g chipped from block)

1 brick of coir = 650g (1.43 lbs) (you may have to chip off that much from the larger 11 lbs blocks sold by Home Depot)

If you're doing it right a 1:4 spawn to substrate will take off. I've done as high as 7:1 without issue, but it takes longer to colonize.

Heya! I have a Presto 23 qt pressure cooker, I'm going to try 90 mins at 15psi for the grain sterilization. How long should I go if I were to run the pc at 17psi? Would you recommend a little more time if I'm working at altitude, say a mile high?

GordoTEK

Some people say 60 minutes is adequate. I am not aware of anyone doing a hard core scientific comparative study of different pressure cook times. It would be nice to know. I started doing 60 minutes for grain jars and haven't had any contam problems whatsoever.

Hey Gordo, my cubes have been in fruiting for 8 days I am seeing beautiful areial mycelium covering the entire substrate (almost too dense). I am fruiting in non modified sterilite tubs with latch up and lid on lose as you do in your video. My substrate is a little over 2” thick and tubs are in a grow tent with proper light and temp. I am misting properly and even have an exhaust fan as well as round 8” HEPA filter cinched down in one of the grow tent drawstring access holes so when the exhaust kicks on clean air is being pulled in. My concern is the surface becoming over colonized and if and when pins form I will have poor pin sets. My two thoughts are, A. grow tent is in closet and not enough FAE is happening or, B. my substrate depth is too shallow and I should add casing layer. Third option would be to wait a little longer but as I said the surface is looking very dense. Please help!

How long to these generally need to dehydrate and is it 145 ?

The video that inspired me to build my own lab 🥼. The best video one has ever watched. Outstanding work Gordo 💯👍💪
