Imo the reason Thorfinn defended himself against Snake and not Fox was cause of the surprise factor. With Fox he already made up his mind to get cut up so he was able to prepare himself for it but with Snake he wasn't prepared at all when Snake was about to cut him so he did what his body naturally knew and that was defend himself.

surprised Rob can't relate more to thorfin considering they're both emotionless type people

the fight scenes in the dream are 1:1 reshots of some of the fight scenes in season 1 with the first person one is when askeladd told him to bring the head of the commander in the frank fort and he climbs up to the fort and does the same scene, this battle is the one where askeladd and his army were carrying the boats on land on their shoulders and charging the fort and the face of the old woman he killed in the end is the English woman with her daughter who took thorfinn in and cared for his wounds but then at night he signaled askeladds army to attack the womans village and she died there and the first guy being the guy in he killed in the woods after the time skip in season one, if you rewatch some of season one you'll see the scenes from the dream

Thorfinn and Einar have gone through similar things but have completely different philosophies on life, where thorfinn just no longer sees the worth of living after it but with einar and his moms final moments saying to him "as long as you're alive...." einar has a positive outlook where he thinks as long as hes living all is not lost and he can make it and i think this scene completely captures that where he hits thorfinn with that perspective and thorfinn starts to see it from a different angle, Einar is that missing piece for thorfinn cuz hes just in his head and in those moments in life you need someone to tell you that life is worth living because you would figure it out yourself

Rob saying “ I can take that” 🤣 wtf
