No dillydallying in 2023, let's jump right into it.

Alba | Zootopia the Series

[Zootopia the Series is a running name for a series and storyline I've been creating as an expansion to the movie. When I write, I do so thinking of it as something to be watched, not read. So pitch bibles, loglines...I'm essentially writing for tv, and all the art kind of reflects that.]

Alba is a vixen who's as much in Hopps N' Wilde's way as they are in hers. She works as a sort of henchmammal with a close knit band of arctic foxes who all report to a higher-up. Alba is a no-nonsense character, though she does take joy in goading her opponents. Because both she and Judy butt heads frequently and are quick to engage in battle she considers Judy a rival, the two being pretty evenly matched. Not crazy about comparisons, but think of her as the Shego to Judy's Kim Possible. While she hates being bested by a bunny she despises being outsmarted by Nick, though despite this the two don't always manage to catch this one.

Conceptual sketch(?) from last week's stream. Threw Sam in the bg bc why not? Sahara Square wasn't featured enough... I'd love to visit that district in my art/story. Cotton is in the bg yelling, probably upset that her ice cream is now on the floor. Can't say that she'll ever meet Alba since she's from a different storyline.

Before I go "and speaking of Cotton!", here's a piece w/ no story behind it, I just wanted to make something compelling and not "cute" (sorry, Nick). I'll make an effort to actually learn how to paint and make bgs, which the above Sahara Square piece was a quick, loose attempt at as well.

And speaking of Cotton! Here's some Cotton-y art from the story concept that's been muddling in my head for way too long XD. Everything below (except the last piece at the bottom) are from that story - Uncle Nick.

Judy being a bad-ass and Cotton being amazed because why not? Judy's pretty extreme. If I had an extreme aunt I'd be amazed too, no matter the occupation. Yes, she has a grappling hook (and yes I fudged on the hands lol). Judy and Cotton are each other's favorites and while they're not siblings they might as well be!

These below are part of AndroAceBunny's past sketch commission that I'm not finished yet but will work on this week now that Holiday-Hiatus is over. The ask was for the two in caroling outfits. Would love to draw more outfits in 2023! My faves are Cotton curtseying in the red dress and Cotton attempting to sing carols in the green dress <3

Last UN art group from December. Went back to my roots and bought a used iPad so apologies for the awkward line quality. Basically a ton of loose drawings of "The Kid" / "Cotton Ball" / "CB" / "Cotton Candy". While her backstory and arc finally clicked during the holidays, I'm now still trying to solidify her personality and that's where character art comes to play (though these are very rough). More actual info in my next [pre-production] pitch bible update.

Mini Facts

• Cotton has short ears like her mother
• Lives on the Hopps Homestead with her parents, Bonnie, Stu and the rest of the massive Hopps fluffle
• Loves reading picture books...but she might need you to help read it to her
• Cotton does NOT like you touching her stuff w/o asking, m'kay?
• Favorite time? Dinner time!

Her face and body in these sketches changes a lot because I'm still deciding how I want her to look. I've got a soft spot for the chubby, Thumper-like face in the movie (as opposed to early vis-dev model they used in the picture Judy keeps on her desk).    

She needs to be visually different from both Molly (left) and 9 year old Judy, but the length of her arms and legs makes a difference to me when I think of how she's able to interact with standard-height adults like Judy and the much-larger Nick.

Annnd that's it! A nice....short post XD. Still thinking things through, but having fun discovering this story along the way. I've been guarding this idea for the longest time because I fear my own ideas (which is probably took so many commissions these past few years tbh), but in 2023 I wanna drop that mentality. What I make might be good, might be bad. IDK, but at least I won't wonder what could've been lol. Since I'm willing to take a chance on me (though still reluctant and embarrassed) I think I'm ready to let other people see my actual concepts so I'm looking forward to getting roasted after I show the backend ideas to more trusted individuals (i.e. actual writers).

That said, a v2 update of the series bible for Uncle Nick will be coming within a few weeks so stay tuned if you'd like to learn more! 

Last upload is a "WildeHopps-y" piece from Dec. Just for you WH folks :3. But don't think this is what you can expect from UN - you've feasted these past few years and now it's time to fast XD
