Few movies give me the warm, fuzzy feeling that Jurassic Park does. As part of one of the most successful movie franchises of all time, the original Jurassic Park caper was released in 1993 when I was merely 2 years old. Fast forward almost 30 years and I've got the biggest heap of Jurassic paleo-merch tat you've ever seen. Let's discuss why it's still relevant today and why the 2nd one was such a steamer.

Thanks to lockdown you have a new listener and fan this week in the form of my husband who has to work from home! He's been chuckling along <3 We both remember plastic lunch boxes - he's informed me that's how he chipped his tooth by swinging it and then smashing himself in the face with it - oops! I had a Snoopy one when I was a kid and it had a matching thermos flask :D Packed lunches in school was COOL! Gutted to hear that Wendigo Solutions is coming to an end... but you gotta go out with a bang! My son was OBSESSED with Walking with Dinosaurs (and the follow-up, Walking with Beasts) and they also did a Walking with Monsters, but that wasn't as good. I will totally have a dinosaur-name-off with you - I know 'em all thanks to my boy's childhood obsession ha! Dinosaurs are fascinating and it's crazy to think that they walked the earth! We used to love going to the Natural History Museum and he would tell me all about the different dinosaurs - what a great kid he was! He's now 21! One of my fave films is Back To The Future, and we were watching it as a family (ages ago) and as we watched it I asked my boy if the movie looked super old to him - and he said yeah. It just didn't dawn on me how dated it looks as I remember when it came out! Jurassic Park is a great film, have seen it many times. Two was crap, and I really enjoyed the third film. Haven't seen the newer ones yet, so will have to watch them while on self-isolation... It's quite rare, I think, to find sequels that are better than the original movies. One exception, for me, is Terminator 2 - one of my faves! And yes, Return to Oz was the one with the heads in jars - Mombi the Witch changed her head. It was the Wheelies that gave me the eebie-jeebies. It stared Fairuza Balk as Dorothy, and it's a bloody Walt Disney Film too! Weird from start to finish! And one final thing, my hubs is really impressed that you read all our comments and think it's a lovely thing that you do! Till next week, byeee <3

I know I’m super late to the discussion. I’m a HUGE Jurassic Park/Jurassic World fan, too. About the plot hole you mentioned with the T-Rex being able to get into the ship’s bridge and kill the people, originally the evil guys also took velociraptors from the island along with the T-Rex. And, it was the velociraptors that got loose and killed the people in the bridge, which would make more sense. Don’t remember exactly why they cut the velociraptors from the 3rd act, but there you go. As a brand new Patron, I’m loving working my way through your podcast catalog. Thanks for hours of cry-laughing!

Oh that's an oddly satisfying factoid, thanks for that! And you're never too late to the discussion <3
