Update #23 - YouTube Issues and Working Ahead (Patreon)

The Stronghold video was a god damn TRIAL to upload.

It turns out there's currently a bug on YouTube where some videos are stuck at 360p forever. I had the first copy of the video uploaded and processing very early Friday morning, and when I went to check at about 3pm I realized it was still in 360p. That's how I got to find out about the bug.

I ended up reuploading the video once which didn't fix it. Rerendering it with some cut frames and the end and reuploading it which didn't fix it. Finally, I uploaded that one again. I then put a copy on Google Drive to post here in case it wasn't coming out on YouTube at all, but the fourth file DID process correctly so I didn't need to. So I missed the target window on that by several hours past the usual upload time. Sorry about the wait on that. Luckily, I have all of you to thank for me even being able to get it out that day, since if I were still on my old internet this would've been an ordeal that easily could've lasted over the weekend with no video out at all. What would have been a weekend headache was condensed to only a few hours, so I'm really happy about that.

But the mysteries don't end there! Some people have been telling me that the video shows up on the main playlist and channel page, but not in the uploaded videos at all. On top of that, a lot of people mentioned they weren't notified at all even with the bell and gizmos pressed and only saw it in recommended videos. Just today, others were saying I had a mysterious "private video" in the review playlist, but I can't see anything like that on my end. 

So in short, the website isn't working so well, and you might want to check up on other channels you like as you may have missed something they put up. I'm hoping they'll have it fixed by the time the guide video is uploading.

Speaking of which, that's the main focus for the time being. While my voice was out I also explored around through the list checking off compatibility issues on the backend, and I got a few games running I thought would be more difficult like Armed & Dangerous, in the next post or two I'll have a poll to decide which of the "shorter games" I should do videos on while the Elite Dangerous video is cooking. I'll have more on that soon.

My voice is also sort of ruined again, but mainly from laughing. I don't stream often, but I did yesterday with Mystery of the Druids and there's a character named Lowry who floats over his chair. That wouldn't be significant on his own, except he's also the protagonist's rival and smugly shit talks him while floating over the chair. This inspired an insane amount of Lowry fanart, as in hundreds of images and videos that I can't keep track of. So I'm including a few Lowry images here as well, the ones that are focused on him anyways. The game itself is also insanity incarnate, because unlike Limbo of the Lost that displays how batshit it's going to be from the start, Mystery of the Druids has the appearance of a normal adventure game but is completely off the rails. I'll get it finished eventually, but I don't know if I could ever make a proper video out of it.

On the backend, Pathologic finally has captions in English and a Russian translation. In fact, EVERY MAIN REVIEW VIDEO in the playlist now has captions! I've had a lot of non-native English speakers and hard of hearing people requesting them, and I have some paid dedicated people I work with every few days to make sure everything comes across correctly in other languages including shifting around brand references and stuff like that to make sense to foreigners. While almost all the videos are available in Russian, other languages are more sporadic so I'm hoping to get that improved. I'm far beyond where I thought I'd be with Patreon, so I'm also working with some other special talent for some videos in the future. Don't worry, it's only for bits. I don't plan on having the overproduced format shift just yet. 

I've got a lot of plans for this year, and I'm gunning to get them all done.
