Afternoon!

I saw a lot of comments in the CoC video mentioning Jack Walters' detective work in the game. Apparently a lot of people were expecting the video to open with "it's locked" or "it won't budge", since he's internally monologuing for just about every little thing. During the video making I started to put together a "supercut" of Jack pointing out mundane things, stoically reacting to horrors, and of course the locked doors. Ultimately I stopped working on that since I realized it would drag on too long in the video and the quicker cut I ended up using near the start drove the point home enough.

So some of those are attached in a cut video for you to enjoy! You know, all the people that were wanting that for some reason.

As for Legacy of Kain Blood Omen, the video is well on its way. I've already beaten the game, have all the footage I need, and am well into editing/audio stuff. There was a hiccup in the recording process since Shadowplay was recording the game in a widescreen aspect ratio when the game itself is strictly 4:3.

After trying several different ways to record it natively in the correct aspect ratio, I ended up using a fairly simple track adjustment to get it back to the non-stretched resolution. This means that the upcoming video will also be the first 4:3 game with black bars on the sides of the video.

I know that some people would prefer that I just leaved it stretched regardless, but in this case the sprite artwork can become very distorted especially when the scenes are in motion. I didn't want to add to distorted views of the graphics since most of the footage of the game on YouTube is either from the Vita version, emulated, blurry, or stretched like it was recording for me. It'll be nice to have the game looking how it should!

There's not a ton to report on since everything is going on schedule. I'm planning on having the video up on Halloween, but if something unexpected comes up it'll be out Friday at the latest.

Happy Halloween!

Jack Walters: Greatest Detective

This bit would be too long

You could just upload the video in the original 4:3 ratio, that way youtube can add the black bars for you where needed and on smaller devices like phones the video can be played without the black bars at all. Although that does restrict the whole video to be in 4:3 and you might want to include some other clips that aren't in 4:3.
