-Madi lives! But now Silver faces the same dilemma he proposed to Flint not so long ago -- would you trade a war for the person you love? Of course his answer is yes but Flint isn't wrong in saying no. Madi would be the first to say this fight is more important. -Grandma Guthrie is awesome. Woodes Rogers is trash tho and I hate him. -For your question at the end, Silver dug up the treasure without Flint's knowledge.

Flint wanted to keep the chest in the ground to keep the alliance together. Silver took the chest out of the ground in case Flint's plan doesn't work. He's prepared to trade the war for Madi.

Love this episode, one of the most underrated of the series for me. Every scene is either incredibly emotional or sets up what's to come perfectly. It feels like everyone is going to be in conflict with each other and yet they all make sense given their character and situations. You understand why Billy is done with the cause, why Madi will never stop fighting, why Flint wants to change the world given what civilisation has done to him, why Jack wants to defeat Rogers and at the same time maybe kill Flint if it’ll give Anne a safe future and why Silver is focused on saving Madi considering she might be his first love (granted my own assumption given what we know of him so far) and that his natural human instincts come first. Again, what masterful writing.

That intro was so appreciated Steven, about how viewers are allowed to have different opinions! Every single person will have their own nuanced reaction to storytelling based on their experiences and ways of thinking. It’s a beautiful and complicated part of discussing stories. It’s an especially good point to bring up as we approach the final episodes. I *loved* the final episodes of Black Sails, but I also don’t think they invoke a simple or straightforward reaction. I can’t wait to see what you think. You are both such observant viewers and I have thoroughly enjoyed your interpretations from the very beginning! So sad we’re almost to the end!!!
