The episode felt weird and I couldn't put my finger on why until the "It's been a long time" voice over came and I got full body chills!! Dexter is back!!

Right! I thought it was pretty ballsy to have the first 45 minutes be without Dexter's monolog but that payoff was so chilling when you finally hear it and it makes that moment and kill so effective. I'm so glad Clyde Phillips is back at showrunner again

I really dug the setting. The cold. The feel of the warmth of a small town in winter. And whom he has become. Adore the girlfriend. I was super onto it…but then…it started to become a season finale, not premiere. And here is why... An addict breaking sobriety after 10 years— there needs to be a very good reason and I didn’t feel like that was earned. A more quick cocaine fix for viewers, instead of building to that moment with a death that carried weight. It was as if I had missed a series of episodes that were building to that moment. Too convienant as well (the friend spilling the details of a serious life-altering event in bathroom). His son happening to show up, was a bit timed. I will likely keep watching to see if this clears up and I get into it, because I was loving the setting! ty guys! have great night!
