Hey guys sorry for the inactivity!

I've been busy testing out game engines for my Eroge project and that ate up my past 3 weeks 😅 I really need to finish up the rewards soon though so expect more Art posts very soon!

I started with Coconut because I felt like she was the easiest to draw and I wanted to draw tummies. She will have a botom-less variation 😉😉

Now for the Eroge News! There's not much art to talk about at this point in time, apart from my handmade tileset seen below. I still suck at pixel art but one step at a time!

I'm using placeholder character sprites from RPGMaker MV, I'll draw my own sprites once I get the groundwork for the game done first.

I actually really wanted to use RPGMaker MV but I encountered some deal-breakers for me personally. The most egregious is Javascript syntax. I just can't stand semi-colons and curly braces 😭 I just felt like I was fighting the engine at some point.

Anyway, what this means is that I'm building my own engine in Godot so it's going to take a little more time. I've attached a short video of my engine progress so far. Honestly, there's not much to see because I'm still writing the core of the engine, but I figured I'd show what I have anyways. I'm actually quite proud that I've gotten this far and I'm really excited to keep on working on this!

Anyway, that's all for this post! Expect more ero WIPs and posts very soon!

*keeps getting distracted from reading the text* A-Anyway ! Does originally taking a look at RPG Maker MV mean you're going for a similar visual presentation ? What other candidates did you have in mind before deciding to implement your own engine ? And no worries, you're bound to get busy if you're going to spend time on both illustrations and your project.

I couldn't make it in the preview but I'm trying to combine 2d RPG aesthetics and Visual Novel dialogue system (ie high-definition art/CGs/backgrounds). Hopefully, I'll be able to reconcile pixel art with high-definition art but I'll cross that bridge once I begin art assets. For your second question, I was considering using Ren'py since that's what I'm most familiar with. However, I really wanted to incorporate more gameplay besides point and click and that's what lead me to RPGMaker in the first place. I also briefly looked at Unity, but I felt like Godot was much more suited for 2D games. I'm not an expert though - I just work with tools that feel comfortable :3

I wish I was a code monkey so I could discuss that aspect with you, but glad you're pushing forward! Also more tummies are needed in the world so this was a good choice.

I'm actually really excited to reach a playable state so I can share it with everyone and get a discussion going. It's one thing to get excited on my own and another when there are people who are interested in playing it! ^_^
