Hey all!

A Patreon supporter gave me the idea of throwing these on here for you all to have as a nice bonus, so here they are!

Here's the video if you missed it - https://youtu.be/gVD-zD4vJGw

Midjourney and other image generating AI are super fun to mess around with, but at the same time I don't think I've seen any truly compelling uses for them. They're cool in a bubble, insanely impressive in fact, but I've yet to see them used for telling stories and/or conveying emotion in a new and exciting way. This video was my first swing at it, though I don't think it's quite equivalent to what I managed with a tool like EbSynth. EbSynth opened up so much storytelling potential and unique visuals for me, whereas Midjourney just allowed me to make a goofy parody video this time. I'll pursue further ideas with AI if they come, but ultimately I just considered this a fun lil experiment.

I've included a few cut stills and title cards at the end. I had a lot of fun making the title cards, but these AI systems are notoriously bad at text right now which made it very finnicky. 1 out of every 30 would get the words remotely right and then from there it was all refining through variations. I made a rule that I couldn't edit/photoshop anything myself and had to get the results right out of Midjourney. Some I could never get quite right, I really wanted it to say "Hard Life of Zack and Cody" but it was simply too much so I accepted "Hard Life".

Thank you so much for the continued support. Hope you're having a nice week.

Love, Joel

I just watched the video, and I fear for the future of creativity.

This is a great little extra! The Spongzilla sound effect still haunts me

Don't. Eventually their demise will come and the indie filmmakers will rise again

Didn’t even know about MidJourney until your video, and after generating 200+ images in a few days I’m exhausted from laughing—thanks!

It could be hilarious to use one of those AI script generators to write a script for a video, then use that with MidJourney to generate some character costume ideas, then translate that into EbSynth to give it that Joel Haver Flair ™

I'm just so absolutely fascinated by all the advancements in AI. it feels like I'm at the cusp of something massive, like when video gaming was just primitive 3d on the PlayStation and N64. Kudos for using the full original images. I feel like we're going to look back on all these glitches errors and smears with fondness at some point in the future.

I wonder what you had to type in to get these images, it seems like you got exactly what you were looking for!

Ah dude just watched, that was hilarious. Awesome video idea for the AI image generator. There were some really funny cuts with the images and music. It turned out great. Some of those pictures were really dark I loved it.
