The rose, in the graphic magazine, was called a 'Violet Carson'. This is very British to really old geezers, like me, as Violet Carsons was the name of a prominent character in the very long running soap 'Coronation Street'. In the early episodes (1960s) she played a middle aged crotchety widow who frequented to local pub most nights, surrounded by her gossiping old cronies. She never had a rose named after her to my knowledge.
