This ep upsets me so much...I agree with the general statement that Buffy doesn't always know what's best just by virtue of being the slayer, and that she requires council and has only survived this long, and been one of the most successful slayers, due to the support of friends...However, she actually *has* learned so much about leadership over the 8 years that she's been a slayer (including the time before the show's start). She's had the weight of the world on her shoulders and the lives of others in her hands for almost a decade, and has had to make so many difficult decisions in that time and has had to sacrifice so much. She literally killed her boyfriend at 17, and gave up her own life at 20. She knows how to make hard decisions, and has also learned from bad decisions she's made. That doesn't mean she always makes correct decisions now, but It hurts that they give her NO credit for what she's done over the years, just because they're pissed at her for her recent misjudgement. Also, she's def not "lucky" to be the slayer. She lives in emotional isolation due to her slayerness, and has to give up everything else others get to enjoy (such as her education, and the dream of a job that pays more than minimum wage) to save the world. She doesn't even get paid to do this sh*t, and Giles does! Not to be hyperbolic, but she's practically a slave in the sense that she has no choice but to do this monumental job, and to do it for free and likely die before 30 because of it. I'm mostly disgusted with Giles' immaturity and bitterness in that scene. His goal is supposed to be to help the slayer become a leader, but as soon as she starts acting out independently he can't handle it, makes decisions behind her back, and then gets salty because she loses her ability to trust him for good reason?! Dawn's dismissal of Buffy also comes out of nowhere for me...To go as far as kicking her out? Ugh. The only person in that scene who didn't act appallingly, I feel, is Faith.

This episode annoys me to hell. Rona and Kennedy are the worst and Kennedy thinks because she's dating Willow(again, no comparison to Tarah or especially Oz)gives her license to make the big decisions. A lot of things in this ep happen because the show wants them to happen. Giles gets all angry a few episodes ago when Buffy and Xander are going out on dates(with Wood and the Queen of the Damned respectively), but then is all okay with them going out with Faith, who last episode he showed he was still questioning. Dawn kicking Buffy out is way out of nowhere. Buffy was in the right when she called out the Potentials. They just liked Faith because she was being the Fun Mom while Buffy was the Work Mom. Buffy sacrifices her life twice, beats all the bad guys up to this point, makes ONE mistake here by rushing into a situation(and all because she thought Caleb kidnapped a Potential)and her friends abandon her. That is absolute BS.

Eh, everyone was saying what Faith was saying. "Can she follow"? You have a 3rd person point of view, they have only a 2nd person point of view. A hunch without evidence. Buffy was lucky in that it's her show and her hunch was right.
