Lorelei was right about Metallica being a way more substantial band than The Offspring. And I don’t even love Metallica, but their songs do have more depth and complexity than The Offspring songs, who had like one good album in the 90’s. At least I thought it was good when I was in middle school. Their songs are kind of good in funny one (kind of like Blink 182 who I also liked as phase of my youth) but in way you think is clever and original when you’re a teenager sticking your middle finger up at the world, and I might listen to them ironically out of nostalgia, but no mature adult with taste seriously claims them as they’re favorite band. Of all the bands? That’s like saying American Pie is your favorite movie, and expecting people to think you are serious, mature person.
