I've only watched the show once, but I can't remember anything that you really need to know from the movies. I think you'll be fine with this as your intro to the Star Wars universe. It's a good show! I'm looking forward to a re-watch!

This is such a good show! I know a few other people who watched this that hadn't seen anything else in the Star Wars universe and understood it without any problems. As someone else said, you might miss a few easter eggs or fan service type moments, but the story this show tells doesn't rely on prior knowledge to understandable or enjoyable. I'm looking forward to seeing your reaction to the rest of it!
