I absolutely love the different relationships between Lorelei and Rory and the Emily and Richard. I agree that Rory and Richard are adorable together. But I also enjoy the contentious relationship between Emily and Lorelei. It's not pleasant, but I enjoy it because it's so interesting and layered. By the way, the big boxed present Rory opened was an original blue tinted iBook laptop computer ... today a real museum piece, but back then a super-cool gift to give an ambitious student like Rory.

This is definitely one of those episodes where I'm practically tearing up at every other scene. This episode swings back and forth between cute and angst in a delicious way., and there's just so much meaty intergenerational drama happening here. I adore every second of it. It's also just really compelling to me to finally get some direct conflict here between Rory and Emily, since it's usually Lorelai who's going at it with her mother. It's like a glimpse back in time to how it might have been back when Lorelai was a teenager.
