Nice!! Been looking forward to Haikyu Wednesday!! 🥳🎉

nikki

I've been busy with work since last week so I have a lot of catching up to do with Death Note, AoT and Haikyuu!! This is gonna be a sweet marathon for me after working hard these past few days!! 🤩💕

Marcus

Hey guys first time commenting, I really enjoy your videos. Just wanted to say that another Aot x Haikyu Voice actor connection is Asahi and Reiner who are voiced by Hosoya Yoshimasa. Keep up the good, insightful and entertaining work fellas!

Alright, Okay✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾

Kuroo said "We're blood in veins. We need to keep flowing without stopping. Keep the oxygen moving. To keep 'our brain' work properly.", the brain of course means Kenma, since he is the brain of Nekoma. "Keep flowing" means their style to keep connecting the ball because they're all good in receives and digs, but a good receive also means passing without the setter (Kenma) having to move too much. Adding a bit to Ukai's explanation here @35:17, in volleyball it's ideal to get the first pass right above the setter AND close to the net, that's why when Asahi @22:54 said "sorry, it's a little short" means it's too far from the setter and the net so Kageyama had to cover it by moving. In Nekoma, because they're so good in receives, they always manage to get the first pass easily to Kenma and close to the net. The setter usually moves closer to the net even when they're at the back row, to set the ball precisely. But of course there are genius setters who can set without moving closer to the net, in real-life, setters like Marouf from Iran (he's already retired) and Sekita from Japan are probably most similar to Kageyama, they can set the ball quick and precise wherever they are 🫠 but that's pretty much impossible haha it's better to have good receivers who can pass the ball well to the setters. "Oni and iron's club" is a saying in Japanese, oni means ogre and iron'a club is the weapon of ogre. So basically Kageyama and Hinata is like an ogre and his weapon 🤣

Grandpa Coach Ukai saying "because humans don't have wings we look for ways to fly" gives me chills!!! One of the most beautiful thing about humans is that we are always looking for ways to exceed our limitations! 💜

@39:25 The reason why the others are shocked when Hinata is trying to spike the ball is because he’s trying to spike with his eyes opened, even though he’s been spiking Kageyama’s tosses with his eyes closed all this time. This is also why the coach immediately called for a timeout and told Kageyama to make softer tosses since now that Hinata is trying to “think” while hitting the ball with eyes opened, he needs time to analyze which course he’s going to hit.

Mel

One of the most beautiful lines from the show🤍

bjorken

The decoy tactic doesn't work because of Nekoma's tactic to only use one person to chase and block Hinata on the right side. That means the other two blockers can just wait on the left side and block other players when hinata is being used as a decoy. Hinata can only be used effectivly as a decoy if he can get past this sole player. Because that would mean that Nekoma needs to use two players to Mark Hinata.

that episode felt too fast, it was over in an instant I swear

28:08 Kenma’s move is called a dump, specifically a setter dump, since he is on the court in that position. A dump is a deceptive, one-handed attack by a front row player attempting to score on the second touch of the rally rather than on the third (it breaks the usual pass/bump, set, hit/spike pattern). Hooray for Haikyu!! Wednesdays! Thanks, Jared and Jordan, for spreading some volleyball joy today. And what a keepsake photo of your sis during an epic moment in sports history!

29:41 Tsukishima’s move is called a tip. Rather than a full on swing for a hit/spike, a tip is a hitter’s technique/strategy to place the ball barely over the block so it drops behind the blocker.

These comments about learning to move on from something you love remind me of when an Army told Suga they had given up on their dream and Suga told them: “I think you must have had tremendous courage. Giving something up decisively takes lots of courage and you worked hard.” 🥺🥺🥺 countless armys have taken comfort from that moment

nikki

I'm one of those armys who got comforted when he said this.. I was having such a tough time back then and when I read the translations of what he said, I legit cried... 🤧 Also when he was doing his weekly radio shows and he would always end it with "Today as well, you've worked hard." 🥹 He just really knows all the right words.. I'm always ever so grateful for him.. 🥹😭

nikki

"You're alone when you jump, but remember that we're all behind you." I swear Daichi has some really incredible one-liners in this show.. ✨️

Rhast

Holy crap! Congratulations to your sister!

Kuroko no Basket is a great anime, I learned to love Basketball from it. However, it is not as realistic as Haikyuu or even Bluelock. It's kinda 'Magic Power' Basketball. If you're OK with that, it's amazing, but if you struggle with 'So and so has 100% accuracy' then it might irritate you.

nikki

I was gonna comment this as well because this was what prevented me from getting into Kuroko because I was also told it was not the realistic basketball... I think a more realistic basketball anime would really be Slam Dunk but it's kinda old. It's a 90s anime production but it's a total classic.

Rhast

24:50 the easiest way to think about it is, Nishinoya can never be one of the front three. He's not allowed in front, so when they rotate, if he was to rotate to the front, he's swapped. 35:30 Validation. Receiving is the most important, and most basic, skill. This is why Kageyama was not being an ass in the first few episodes, demanding that Hinata could receive in order to get a spike. If you watch a 2v2 beach volleyball match, the receiver is the spiker, because they need to get the ball to the setter

Ashley K

As an avid soccer follower I’m going to have to disagree😅. Bluelock is far from realistic. But like Nikki said, Slam Dunk is THE basketball manga/anime (and realistic unlike Kuroko) despite it being a lot older. The manga is a true and legendary classic. 😊

IfraH

Bluelock is not realistic, tbh there aren't many realistic football animes. I love Inazuma Eleven for example, it's literally all my childhood but they have "powers" too when they score. The only realistic football anime I can think of is "Holly and BenjI", though it's very old, but definetly a classic from the 90s

SHOUTOUT TO YOUR SIS! THE OHIO ST!! 👏
