1. In the last episode, you guys mentioned how L and Light are both so similar in the fact that they're both incredibly intelligent, but childish. Now, the audience is introduced to a new "type" of childishness in Misa where in contrast to L and Light's competitiveness, hers seems to be in the realm of being more impulsive or uncaring of consequence. People often say that there's a fine line between good and evil. Do you think a similar line can be said for different aspects of these characters and their immaturity? For Light is there a line between childish and righteous? For L childish and genuis? For Misa childish and naive? 2. There's also an interesting dynamic between L and Light where both use the word "justice". We all have a concept of "justice", even if the word itself is very subjective. So given that, are L and Light meant to both be embodiments of justice/the law that combat one another? Where L is a sense of lawful justice that follows textbook deduction to point to guilty by the basis of written law ((meaning: something is wrong/unlawful because there is a rule in place that says you can't do so, so that's what is expected)), in contrast to Light who follows -while skewed- a moral compass of his internal self-sense of "justice" even if others do not agree. What do you make of that if both are supposed to embody justice? Is this a commentary on the audience and lawful systems we uphold? To go further, is Light who acts out of self-preservation but puts on a front of logical justification and "justice" meant to reflect how our lawful systems are something we follow but are founded on self-interest by those that have the power of decision ((like Light and the deathnote))? Also, feel free to sprinkle some of that sociologist perspective razzle dazzle if you both would like! P.S. Love these videos! They're the only thing getting me through my college senior midterms! Y'all are the best!
