I am so glad you guys are watching this. I won't spoil anything but ; highly introspective thinking is a parallel in all anime. I think the next anime you guys should watch is demon slayer! It's a new animation where the colors, the animations and storytelling are ALL THE BEST I've ever seen. Death Note was maybe the 3 animation I watched and I was stuck to my computer/phone for all 37 episodes. Yall just have to know that man it gets so so much better.

Actually, otaku is a kind of insulting name used by non-anime fans...kinda like calling someone a nerd. Some people have reclaimed the title and call themselves otaku proudly, but I would not call someone else that unless they use it for themselves first

Happy that you started this! I really enjoyed this anime! It’s in my top 10. One thing to say is that anime gives artists the freedom to do things you can’t do in film. The voice acting is superb and (in my opinion) the original Japanese audio is always truer to the story. English dubs are always lacking. When I was younger and watched Spanish dubs they were really good too, depending on the studio. Enjoy your journey!

White will become very hard to read and there is very few time yellow will blend into the background).

This was one of my first animes and it’s still in my top 10. This is my first time watching the subbed version. I gotta say death note is one of the only animes where the English dub is goated. Ahhhh gonna love this journey

I absolutely loved your reactions! Just found you guys on YouTube and subbed immediately. It's so cool to see people with open minds trying something new. I think you hit the nail on the head with your thoughts about anime in general- it's got that something special that a lot of people tend to write off without ever even trying it. That being said, Death Note was one of my first animes as well and it's a perfect introduction! Haha I won't spoil anything but there is PLENTY more to come to fill 36 more episodes 😉 (Something else you will learn with anime is the plot and world building is insane and multi-layered 😆) Can't wait to follow on the journey! Beware of spoilers, my best advice is to not read comments or go seeking even simple answers you have about the anime cause it only takes a quick second to spoil 😅

There are multiple Death Note movies. An American one, which I don't recommend, and a Japanese series that's fantastic. The actor who plays L does an amazing job. Of course, I'd recommend waiting until after you complete the entire series before watching the movies. There's three Japanese Death Note movies. The last one is a side story outside of the events in the series, but it still has spoilers.
