This was an incredible match. Something that gets overlooked is how the girls in the stands showed up really just to cheer for Oikawa with no real investment in the game itself, and didn't really care about volleyball. By the end they're applauding the opposing team, and have an appreciation for the effort everyone left on the court. That's what it feels like for volleyball novices to watch the show and get that attached.

The sound engineering is excellent in this series. From the echoes of bouncing balls, the sharp whistle to the squeak of shoes on the court, you feel immersed in the atmosphere of the gym. You can almost hear them sweat.

To answer your question to my comment : - Yes, I am French - The sport I am a Volunteer at is the Shooting, I’m an Event Services Team Member, basically I help with the spectators. - To become a volunteer, they had a whole campaign last year, where you could candidates, and anyone could. For this Olympics there is 45000 volunteers. And a first time for me!

I am always amazed by the animation and details on the characters' faces. I remember crying watching this episode for the first time because it felt like I was there with them... experiencing the loss with them. I love the scene in the restaurant though & what it represents. Although you feel devastation after losing, true competitors also feel HUNGRY for growth. Something my pops used to tell me when I was still an athlete was "To never leave food on the table." TAKE and EAT every opportunity you have to grow (victory, defeat, practice reps, game reps, mental reps, etc.), so you can continue to evolve and become stronger than you were yesterday. With that, I can't wait to watch how Karasuno grows in the next season with you guys! The show is only going to get better!!! Much love to you both!

haha thank you guys for the love on my last comment. since you asked: i do play volleyball, started 9 years ago after watching haikyuu cause it made me fall in love with the sport. Im from Germany, so the way tournaments and clubs work here is a bit different from countries like the US for example. While in the US, you have very competitive teams portraying the school you go to, in Germany its more usual to do sports as an after school activity and is rarely tied to the school itself. it's mostly independent clubs where you have to apply. While still in school, i started playing in an amateur group where i could learn the basics and have fun. but i soon realised it wasnt enough for me and i wanted to improve my technique and actually compete in tournaments. Which is why i switched to a proper volleyball club in 2017. I'm now 5 years out of school, so it's not really high school volleyball anymore haha. My team plays pretty high and if i dare say, we're not bad either. I'm a wing spiker, so the same position as Tanaka or Asahi. I also got a referee license so I'll be glad to help out whenever you guys get confused about the rules :)

Great reaction as always. I still vote for pausing whenever you have something to say! There is more of a dynamic conversation when you talk about it in the moment. Not saying this applies to you guys, but I often feel like impactful moments don't get talked about as well as they should because other impactful moments happen and overshadow them. So I love when you pause to talk about something that moved you right away! keep up the good work.

Hey guys just joined your Patreon because I just couldn’t saint for YouTube uploads lmao juste wanted to tell y’all that your channel is amazing and I love your discussions during the episode I find it really great that you pause a lot because that makes sure that you don’t miss details so that’s a great thing but yeah that’s all I had to say nice reaction and greetings from France 🫡

heyyy same here. i am also from germany, also started because of haikyuu, also a wing spiker. i started in 2021 in a mixed team and switched last year to a mens team. in which league is your team elina? you said you play pretty high, are you in Verbandsliga or Oberliga? for now we are only in bezirksliga so i assume you are literally leagues above me lol

Both Oikawa's serve and Noya's call for out are insane! You don't want to miss your serve at the end of the match even if you're leading, and yet Oikawa still went strong for it. For Noya, it would be the end for them if he had misjudged, it was much safer for him to just receive the ball but he chose to call for out. What a great play.

I still cry watching the post-credit scene even though I've watched so many times.....

An awesome episode with an awesome reaction J&J 💜💜 Seeing you both so focused and on the edge till that last point 🤜🤛 I remember my time as a VB player back in the days, on similar point-by-point matches. How that physical exhaustion starts contributing more and more to the mental exhaustion as well. And there we were, hoping that the opposing team will make 1, just 1 ‘mistake’ on their end to give us the win 😅. On our side, it would be a just-save-every-ball-even-if-u-end-up-injured mindset. Its crazy how much we can relate to every second sometimes. Takeda’s smile towards the end, actually means a lot after what has happened. Love you guys 🙏🏻💜

My first time watching this episode... I was in complete shock.... i truly thought there would be a different outcome, no thought about what would come next... when the backdrop turned white i was screaming at the screen then just numb shock... felt like i was right there with them... then the post credit scene 😭 Thank You J&J for the reaction!! i appreciate y'all basically doing a try not to pause for the episode i bet that can be hard, but i appreciate it!! and i don't mind when y'all pause and talk i enjoy hearing what y'all think so just thank you for sharing your watching experience with us 💗

The gym many of these matches take place in is real — it's located in Sendai in Japan, and volunteers organize free Haikyuu tours across the venue a few times per month (I was fortunate to go once, it was so much fun, the volunteers are very passionate and go all out). Some Haikyuu events for the fans also take place in that gym. Additionally, it now has a Haikyuu monument (a large illustration by the author of the series) in front of it, commemorating the fact that Kageyama and Hinata were named special ambassadors of tourism in Sendai, as the city attracts many Haikyuu fans (please don't google the monument though as the visual is technically a spoiler). The author also took great care with that post-game meal scene — they came up with a whole healthy menu for it with lots of protein. The portrayal of loss is something else that often comes up in "what makes Haikyuu great" discussions alongside realism. The producer of the anime believes Haikyuu's "aesthetics of loss" and its relatable portrayal is one of the major reasons behind its popularity.

well not thaaaat high haha. we play Landesliga, but to me its high cause usually you find people there that play volleyball since they are 4 or 5 years old, so i started pretty late in comparison, at 15 years old. that's why i consider it high for myself :)
