They finally got the boss within the six figures, which should be a good thing… but the boss's attack pattern was incredibly hard to predict now. 

As one of the best strategists in the guild, it was up to him and the other bright minds to predict this boss.

Only it was impossible. 

The thing had no set attack patterns. And with it spamming all of its skills gained from devouring World Items, it was only a matter of time before they were all wiped out. 

Bellriver looked at their last hope and leader, Kakuei, as he pondered the best next move. 

“Everyone group up and hit it til it dies!” 

What?

““RAAAAAHHHHHHH!”” 

Bellriver watched in stunned silence as the remaining guild members either rushed toward the boss or cast spells to attack it. 

“…”

A quiet sight escaped Bellriver. He was getting too fucking old for this shit. A small smile tugged at his lips. 

“They’re all so godamn stupid.” With those words, he joined the magic casters in casting spells to attack this boss. 

He had been in this guild since its conception, and if Kakuei ordered them to do something stupid, it was because he honestly believed it would work—and if there was one thing Hell’s Paradise had, it was faith in their leader. 

— Kakuei —

As we rushed forward toward the boss, one thought pinged in my mind over and over again: I have no idea what the fuck we’re doing, but I know it’s going to work.

This boss, with its unpredictable attack patterns and bullshit skills, made it impossible to plan around it, which means the best strategy against it was no strategy at all. 

The mages stayed back while the remaining tanks and fighters pushed forward. Our health ticked away by the second, but we persisted in ending this fight once and for all! 

The dragon let out a purple fiery blast at us as we approached it, but we were unsurprised and easily dodged out of the way. 

What did surprise us however, was the claw attack that it followed up with, and because of the suddenness of it all, I was forced to block the attack for the sake of the others.

The attack caused me to slow down, but the others didn’t stop in their charge, coming head on with the dragon and delivering powerful and sychronized attacks with their weapons. Weirdly enough, the aura surrounding the dragon also seemed to act as a shield and nerf the damage done to it. 

I ran forward and launched a World Break at the boss, my stick connecting hard against it’s scales and easily cutting through the aura defense.

“Now!” I shouted, jumping back and narrowly avoiding another claw attack. The front line fighters all gained some distance as the mages began raining down devastation upon the World Eater, chipping away at his HP with destructive spells.

“GRAHHHHHHHH!” 

“This fucker won’t go down!” I shouted in frustration as I glared at the mighty beast. I was getting tired of this fucking raid and could sense everyone else was as well. “We need to end this now!” 

“Then, let’s push forward and bring perfect justice back to Yggdrasil!” Touch Me shouted. 

“Wait, our cooldowns!” I called to Touch Me before he ran forward. 

“Kakuei’s right. No use pushing in if we can’t get good hits through the bastard's aura,” Joni growled as he dodged another of the boss’s claw attacks. 

“Wait until the Dimensional Slash cooldown is up and use as many stamps as you can, we’re ending this fight in the next push.” I ordered while downing an HP potion. 

““Right!””

The fight was almost over, all we had to do was stay out of the dragon’s clutches while we finished this! 

We dodged around the dragon’s attacks with ease and within half a minute, we were ready to go. 

“I will lead the charge!” Joni said, looking at me and I nodded. He had the most HP out of all of them, barring me. 

He took off toward the massive dragon and Vampira, Touch Me, Nishi, Take, and I followed closely behind him. 

We dodged around the dragon’s breath attacks which the fucker was spamming now, and closed the distance. 

We all winded back our weapons and prepared to hit the dragon with the final blow! 

However, suddenly, the dragon’s gaze snapped onto us, or more specifically, me, and as we were in mid air, ready to slash at it’s head and end it once and for all, it opened it’s large maw and we watched as fire built up in it’s throat. 

“We’re in to deep, end this, for justice!” Touch Me shouted as our blades slashed against the dragon’s scales. 

“GRAAAAHHHHHHH!” 

The dragon still managed to fire it’s breath attack which hit all of us and melted away at our HP. 

As we landed back on the ground, I quickly eyed my HP which was falling too fast for comfort before looking up at the dragon.

We had done it, we had won! 

[Guild Member: Touch Me has been slain.]

[Guild Member: Joni Val Temp has been slain.]

[Guild Member: Nishikienrai has been slain.]

[Guild Member: Vampira Val Temp has been slain.]

My eyes snapped to the burning forms of my friends, their character’s slowly being disintegrated until nothing was left. They didn’t have as much HP as me, and that final attack took them out…

If that wasn’t a badass way to go out, then I don’t know what would be. 

I knew they were gonna be lording that W around for the next year at the very least. 

And I didn’t blame them. Their sacrifice won us this raid, and I wouldn’t even feel bad about buying them all a drink for such badassery. 

“WE FUCKING WON!” Pero shouted at the top of his lungs.

“FUCK YEAH WE DID!” Ulbert shouted back, both of them holding up their hands and feathers for a double high five. 

It was honestly a funny sight, and the relief and happiness of winning the hardest boss fight of both of my lives finally started to set in. 

We won. 

Momonga eyed me from a distance, her character’s face left expressionless, but I could tell she was giving me a beamings smile internally. 

As much as I wanted to celebrate, I wanted to do it with everyone in the guild, not just the surviving members. Everyone contributed to this win, and everyone deserved to hold a piece of this W. 

RUMBLE

My internal smile was quickly wiped off of my face as the earth beneath us began to rumble violently. 

“What the fuck is that?!” Pero shouted and I could hear the surprise and fear in his voice. 

[The Realms Quake!]

The ground in front of us began to crack and split until a deep ravine appeared.  

“GRAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!” 

“There’s no way…” Wish III breathed out.

The dragon that we believed to be dead flew out of the ravine, glowing with it’s purple aura, and a sheen of gold radiated around it’s scales.

Fucking Rebirth?! 

Did it come back with full fucking HP?! That’s some bullshit! What the fuck are these devs doing?! 

“This…this isn’t fair!” Ulbert shouted in outrage. “It’s supposed to be dead!” 

“Well, it’s not!” I growled back, drawing World Savior once more. 

SHING 

I looked down at the stick that started to glow brightly in my hands to the point that it was like a mini sun in the shape of a stick. 

“What the hell?!”

I calmed myself and read the text, and as I did, I felt my heartrate speed up. 

This…With this we could win!

“We came this far, are we really going to lose like this?!” Pero asked, firing his arrows at the giant beast. 

“No!” I shouted, pointing my stick at the giant glowing dragon who was snarling at me and only me. “We can win, here and now! Touch Me and the others entrusted everything to us, so we’ll win this fight, for the sake of our guild!” 

With my quick speech, I rushed toward the dragon. 

“GRAAAAHHHHHHH!” 

I closed in on it quickly and it swiped a claw at me which I easily dodged. It followed up with a breath attack, but I was already under it, slashing it with heavy attacks.

The dragon let out another gut wrenching howl and slammed it’s claws into the ground hard. 

“Roots attack!” I shouted, and the others dodged out of the way. 

The roots shot up, and I narrowly dodged them. 

I looked back to see if the others made it away fine and paused. 

There were no roots around them. 

I jumped backward behind the others and looked over at Momona. 

“I need you all to blast it with everything you got! We need to shred it’s health again!”

“Right!” Momonga nodded as her, Pero, Ulbert, and the remaining magic casters prepared to launch their strongest attacks. 

All the while the dragon kepts it’s eyes locked on me, never taking them off of me for a moment. 

Was it aggroed on me specifically?

I glanced down at World Savior in my hands and grinned internally. 

It must be programmed to take out the person wielding this weapon, but I can use that to my advantage!

The World Eater took off toward the skies and opened it’s mouth.

“NUKE!” Pero screamed like a terrified school girl. 

I jumped away from them, running off so that I could put distance between myself and the guild members, all the while the World Eater turned to follow my movements. 

“Attack it now!” I shouted as loud as I could as it launched the nuke right at me. 

“We’re not ready yet!” Ulbert responded. 

I clicked my tongue as I jumped high into the air, just as the attack hit the earth beneath me.

BOOM

As I fell back to the Earth, I began buffing myself. 

‘Greater Speed Enhancement’ ‘Greater Mana Shield’ ‘Greater Damage Reduction’ 

My feet touched down against the cracked earth and I blasted off toward the dragon, reaching it in moments and comboing it once more. I hit it with a series of light attacks and when my combo was coming to an end, I activated my World Break skill.

“Hit it now if you can!” I ordered and jumped away, making sure I didn’t go near the guild. 

“We’re ready!” Momonga responded, holding her staff up and the other magic casters mimicked her. 

The World Disaster’s formed giant fireballs that swirled around and hummed powerfully, while the other members formed lesser fireballs that still looked like they’d pack a devious punch.

“FIRE!” Ulbert ordered and the many balls of fire were launched at the roaring dragon.

“We’re close!” I grinned, hopefully motiavating the others as I prepared for the Dragon’s next attack. 

It glared at me with a surprising amount of hate, and for all of the shit I gave the devs on a daily basis, I had to admit, this boss fight was the closest thing to realism that I’d ever experienced when playing games. 

Suddenly a purple space was torn open in front of the dragon. It slashed at the space and-

“OH SHIT!” I shouted in surprise as my character was flung away.

“What the fuck was that?!” I didn’t even see what happened. I looked back at where I was hit from and saw a portal where the dragon’s claw was floating out of. 

This fucker had spacial magic?! 

That’s broken! 

I take back everything I said, fuck these devs! 

“Kakuei, what’s your HP?” Ulbert asked with only a little bit of panic in his voice. 

“Too low.” I frowned. The fucker nearly one shotted me off of a claw attack, and I still had my Greater Damage Reduction on, this boss was getting out of hand, but the good thing is it’s still aggroed onto me. “I’m not gonna lie, I think it’s gonna kill me with the next attack, I need you all to finish this one.” 

“Kakuei, if you get killed we lose!” Buku shook her slime body. “Everyone, protect him with your lives!” 

“It’s aggroed on me!” I frowned, pushing my body back up. “Don’t be stupid and take a hit for no reason.” 

I pulled out a HP potion and downed it and watched as my HP returned with a relieved sigh. 

“If I die, I die, just make sure you all end this if it comes to that, and I won’t take no for an answer.”

I earned reluctant nods from the others and watched as the dragon began to float in the air again.

“NU-”

“Pero, we can see it’s a fucking nuke!” I facepalmed while watching the dragon. “All of you, get away from me now!” 

They didn’t need to be told twice and immediately started moving away for their own safety. 

We needed to end this fight sooner rather than later, and just as the Dragon was about to launch the nuke, an idea popped into my head. 

I honestly didn’t know if it would work, but it was worth a shot. 

— Momonga —

She watched as the nuke was launched at Kakuei, and for some reason, he was just standing there, watching it. 

“Kakuei, you have to move, now!” Pero shouted at him, but he remained in place, watching the nuke until it was nearly on top of him. 

BOOOOOOOMMMMMM 

The nuke exploded right on top of Kakuei’s body and Momonga couldn’t believe her eyes. 

Their chances of winning this raid…gone, just like that. They were so close, and many of their friends had given everything for the win, but in the end, they failed. 

“Wait, the game hasn’t announced Kakuei’s death, what the hell happened?” Ulbert asked aloud, and that got everyone to perk up as they scanned the battlefield for the leader of Hell’s Paradise. 

“How could he just disappear?!” Take questioned. 

Suddenly, a bright light appeared right beside the World Eater. It was a crack in the air, and Momonga’s eyes widened in realization as Kakuei’s body emerged from the crack. 

“He used Dimensional Gap!” 

She couldn’t believe it! To think that skill would work here, but in hindsight, it makes perfect sense! Dimensional Gap is a skill that allows a World Champion to travel between the realms, but considering this is the realm where Yggdrasil’s Roots connect to the other realms, it makes sense that a World Champion could pop in and out of the boss fight without the game registering it as an abandoned boss fight. 

As Kakuei appeared out of the crack, he pulled World Savior back as he grew closer and closer, his entire character was consumed in a golden aura.

“GRAAAHHHHHH!” The World Eater tried to slash Kakuei out of the air, but he fell just under the attack. The guild watched in amazement as Kakuei fell until he was in close to the dragon’s torso.

“Dimensional Slash!” Kakuei roared, slamming World Savior into the World Eater. 

“GRAAHHHHHHHGWAH!”

The dragon’s body began to vibrate violently as cracks of gold appeared throughout it’s body, until the dragon was as bright as the sun. 

BOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMM

The body of the dragon erupted in a giant explosion that shoot the realm they stood in, and all the realms of Yggdrasil. 

[Maliketh The World Eater has been Defeated, Yggdrasil has been saved after milennia of oppression!] 

She couldn’t believe it…

They had won! 

It was over!

Author’s Note: I wanted this fight done so bad, but I didn’t want to skip over the revival because it’ll come pretty handy later on. That does it for Yggdrasil, now it's just the progressive decline and ultimately the move on to Tensura.

Also just wanted to mention the Vampira name change isn’t an accident, and I’ll be going into it a bit in the next chapter.
