The one cameo of Scooby! that totally tickled my 70s kid nostalgia was Cap-tain Cave Ma-a-a-a-an! I may or may not have gotten curious looks for reactively reliving Cap's moniker as an adult.

As usual I find myself an outlier in these things. Maybe it's because I'm technically a boomer. Anyway, I vaguely remember watching the original scooby doo in '69 and being so excited about it. I remember promotions leading up to its premiere, but then being so disappointed and eventually consumed with rage (well the rage that only a 6 year can experience which I'm sure Chris and other parents out there can attest to being quite frightening). I was enraged at the utter lack of anything supernatural, that it was always a dude under a mask. Even at that tender age I craved the real thing even in a kid's cartoon. I watched the subsequent iterations occasionally over the years, but always found it lacking and lame. Sure, the song, the cameos, the crossovers were all appealing in their own way, but it was as much of a mystery as Columbo and the Rockford Files. Other things that just drove me to my room to dive deep into some horror collection or comics. Well, I have been giving the latest iteration Mystery incorporated a try and I'm slightly entertained. I'm almost through the second season and there is apparently a supernatural aspect though most eps are still a masked dude. Still the playing around with its own tropes as well as really dissecting the relationships between these teens is its saving grace. Doubtful I'll give this movie a go. Too much else requires my begrudging inattentive attention. FYI one ep of Mystery Incorporated really handled the whole scrappy doo thing hilariously. I actually laughed out loud.

Also very glad you mentioned the futurama links, the 'Bendi Bendi Boo' story was clearly the best of the Sat morning cartoons Nixon n Headless body of Agnew watched with a cameo from George Takei to keep all of us happy, especially Chris.

I only remember that, even as a teen, the ending of this movie creeped the hell out of me.

Gotta say, I was amazed when I saw animated Harlan Ellison on Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated. True to form, he was arrogant and abrasive, but witty as well.
