I really love this one, but you forgot rule number one for cat owners: cats are jerks.

This is a story I read so long ago that I wasn't quite sure it was real. I re-read after your podcast, and while it didn't quite make me cry it came close. The potential we have in youth being lost is not that uncommon a theme in fiction, but our kitten went out a hero. RIP Gummitch, - or at least his dreams. Has a kitten ever been a tragic hero in fiction before? This is one of my favorite short stories of all time. It reminds of Neil Gaiman's work in how it is whimsical and heartbreaking at the same time. Thanks Guys, for reminding me of a classic. By the way, if you are looking for a goofy story, try Neil Gaiman's Orange.

Listening to this episode again reminded me of my cat, Alais, and her encounter with a savage, nut-hunting squirrel. She was stalking it, burst forward to pounce as it raced forward. Both leapt and collided like a kung-fu movie's wire-fighting. They landed and the squirrel zoomed off; Alais had not caught her prey.
