The problem with gentrifications is moving into the neighborhood and having a negative impact on the people who have live there for generations Calling the police because of the smell of barbecue. Calling the police on a little girl selling water. Trayvon martin death and gentrification go hand in hand. Zimmerman was upset that black families were force to move closer to his neighborhood and the quickest way home for Trayvon was to walk through that subdivision. So it’s not about Starbucks and muffins.

i truly believe that if your goal is to leave the hood and affect change from afar by all means do so, but if you goals is to reinvest in the hood and buy businesses and homes and provide opportunities do so. i think that just giving a person a job does not change the fact that the person who is getting the job still has real world issues which makes people in the hood act out even when somebody who looks like them is giving the opportunities.
