"By my side...!" I hesitate and so I don't truly call them, it's just for a second, but Hideaki Emiya's body and soul forget that person. It's an unusually cruel thing to do, even if I can't be blamed for it, and such a cruel thing might... should cost my life.

The dog's bite sinks deeper, soon enough I will meet my end, because my love and trust for that person just wasn't enough. In fact, I can't even recall their name, the victor made the mistake of forgetting his sword.

Nonetheless, I still don't want to die. "By my side...!" The things on my hand are shining bright red, they're screaming at me that I should call for that person, that they would answer my call without any hesitation at all, and so I should...!

I can't remember who they were. "By my side...!" But I refuse to die, and so I can only pathetically call for anyone who is willing to listen. "By my side...!" Soon the dog will chew more than just a leg, soon those monsters will enter. This is a BAD END.

...

My vision is beginning to become dizzy. I think it might be the blood loss? Who knows, maybe that dog chewed through something important. At least this is better than being torn apart by hundreds of monsters right? This is a BAD END.

...

My vision is darkening. My vision is going white. It constantly changes, this is the true meaning of blinding pain, because this is certainly more than the bite of a simple normal dog. Without a shred of doubt, this is a BAD END.

...

I refuse. "By my side!" Someone finally answers my call, someone who is so desperate that they are even willing to work with a man who forgot his own sword. Truly they must be...

A red light fills my vision, and the next thing I feel is relief. That's because something definitely killed that dog, I can tell because I hear the sound of heat cutting through it, and then I hear the dog's screams of pain. After almost being eaten by it, hearing that it's dying is euphoric.

My vision is cleared up, I can now see the person who saved me, but first I hear her voice. "And so the dream begins. Are you my master?" Her tone sounds cold, almost emotionless. However, what is more surprising about her is her...

Her everything. First of all, she has red eyes and long... short white hair. I thought it was long for a second, but that's just her white veil. And then there's her clothing... she doesn't wear a lot, which means she's showing a lot of her dark skinned body, her very fit body.

If this was any other situation, my sword would definitely be activating, if you know what I mean. By the way, she also has a sword, a rainbow one, I imagine that's what cut through the dog.

And as for her question... "What?" I have no idea what she's talking about. The only thing I know, is that I was supposed to call for a woman, and then that woman would have saved me. I cruelly forgot about them though, so they could not come.

The beauty in front of me sighs. "A master is... Nevermind that for now." She looks around us. "It looks like we are surrounded... What are these beasts anyways? They look like simple programs, but..." Programs? Like from a computer?

Forget about it Hideaki Emiya, I can think about that later, for now I have to get up and find a hiding spot or something. This woman is not that woman, I don't trust her to keep me safe, in fact I don't trust her at all, even if she did save me just now.

What is she? What is a master? Am I one? Those are way too many questions for me to think about... Even if the master thing makes me think of the Holy Grail War, that video game that was canceled just today.

I shake my head and try moving my leg, hoping to get up. "Tsk...!" But I can't. That thing ate through it for way too long, and just like any human who had his leg chewed through by a dog, I might lose that leg.

That's a chilling thought, specially since I know this could have been avoided if I didn't hesitate at such an important moment, but I'll just have to live with my choices for now. My leg is useless, and I can't get up without assistance any longer.

That's why I can only watch as that woman tears apart the enemies surrounding us in a flash. She treats them like worthless trash, cutting through hordes in seconds, the only way to describe it is... Superhuman. This woman is a superhuman like Super Man.

And much like most heroes, her power set is seemingly bigger than just being strong and fast. With quick movements of her sword, she freezes an enemy, and then burns another, and then destroys another with a gust of wind...

That sword... I think it's that sword that lets her do that. If you can even call that a sword of course, it's made out of rainbow, and it's size and shape constantly change according to the girl's whims, allowing her to reach any target she wants.

Eventually she steps back towards me, ending my silent awe of her... everything. "Boy, what is the cause of this rain? It is creating more hostile enemies, so no matter how many I kill they don't cease their attacks." Her tone is still as cold as ever, but I can sense a bit of frustration as well.

One could compare her to a dragon and those mud things to ants. But there are so many ants in this world... even a dragon will get frustrated and give up eventually. It's like an endless level of Dynasty Warriors.

And so, I stutter out my response, both in fear of those things, and awe of her. "Um... The rain is being caused by some mad women named BB, I don't know where she is, or how to stop this." An image of a destroyed London comes to mind. Is it really possible to stop BB at all...?

The woman nods. "Understood, since I cannot eliminate the enemy, I shall block it's path at least." And after saying that, she carves her sword on the ground, it shines more brightly than ever before.

The next scene can only be described as a thing of fantasy. Gigantic ice walls begin to grow out of the ground, outside of the building. They either push enemies away, or freezes them without mercy... Thankfully she cleaned out the inside of the building, so... we are safe.

Ice can actually be surprisingly hard to break, and her walls are massive and dense indeed. So those monsters who didn't get frozen, can only hopelessly hit the wall... They're like horror movie zombies, unrelenting.

She takes her sword out of the ground. "I have slowed down the enemy for a second, now..." She focuses her cold gaze at my leg, it looks awful...! "I believe you should treat your wounds, boy." Stop acting like a certain dad!

I don't even want to look at my bleeding leg. "I-I can't do that! I don't have the tools do that, and even if I had, I didn't take first-aid class or anything...!" Now that my awe of her, and the danger of the situation has subsided, panic has begin to settle in.

She slightly tilts her head, clearly confused. "Are you not a mage...? Well, I suppose that not all mages are familiar with the art of healing." A mage...? Does she mean those wizards BB mentioned? That's probably it, she's assuming I'm one.

I think I might have begun to hyperventilate. "I learned about wizards and stuff today!" Holy shit, I think I can see a bone sticking out. "C-can't you do something...!?" I'm gonna die, I'm losing too much blood, so I'm going to die...!

The girl doesn't care enough to react to my little freakout, but she does respond. "I cannot heal, only destroy." For real!? You have elemental manipulation, some super crazy Star Wars sword, and all of those crazy physical capabilities, but you can't heal!?

She looks at my hand. "I'm surprised you're not a magus of any kind however..." She looks at my hand. "Considering you have that ring on your finger. It is emanating even greater power than my sword..." She then mutters to herself. "Is that how you're sustaining me...? How you called me?" I have no time to pay her any attention.

I look at my hand, the one she motioned towards. "Huh?" First of all, there's three separate markings on my hand, I think that's the burn I felt earlier, and for some reason I feel like they're incredibly important.

They're not the only things of note however, as the girl said, there is a ring on one of my fingers. It looks... surprisingly ornate, far more expensive than a ring with a diamond or whatever. It also wasn't there a second ago... Did it show up when I called for her? I probably failed to notice since... since that stuff was happening.

Why does this thing mean I'm a wizard... I don't get it! And the girl's calmness while I die isn't helping any, specially as she whispers in my direction. "This dream has not lasted long, it is but a forgettable and banal dream... And yet it is far greater than a nightmare. Thank you, and sleep well, boy." Don't say scary stuff like that...!

I focus on the ring, who may or may not be magical. "Not yet...! Do something!" I don't know who I'm talking too, be it the girl, the ring, or even me. All I know is that Hideaki Emiya betrayed that person, all so he could live, and as such, I can't die right after it!

She kneels to my side. "I'm afraid this is it... I could cut off your leg and cauterize it, but at this point your life is forfeit." That's...! So this really was a BAD END after all...! But I didn't give up back then, so I won't give up now.

I clean my fists. "Then at least try! I'm fine with losing a leg, as long as I get to live...!" I betrayed her, and I also have that stupid dream to fulfill...! So I can't just die after rejecting death.

She gets up, there's a slight frown on her face. "As you wish boy...!" She raises her sword and then...! "Oh?" Doesn't do anything, instead her expression shows surprise. It's not a lot, she's as stoic as usual, but...

My ring is shining. "I...!" And my leg is healing with that shine, even though it's an incredibly painful process. "F-fuck...!" I can actually see as everything is fixed, as my bone returns to where it should be, as veins are made, as blood is made.

It's awful in a special kind of way, the type of memory that I shall never forget, specially as scream of pain after screaming of pain leaves my mouth. That said, I'm also feeling incredible relief, I won't die after betraying that person, even if I don't even know who that person is.

The girl nods. "It seems I shall not be taking your leg, boy." And I'm so grateful for that... "Now I must ask... Are you a magus or not? I would recommend not lying to me, as it will lower my morale." I... I see...?

I sit up, and put my hands on my leg, to confirm what I just experienced was real. "I'm not a wizard... I was telling the truth that I learned about them today." Is she really unaware of the things surrounding BB?

She looks at the ice walls she made. "I see, but why would a normal, handsome boy be targeted by such creatures? And why would he be in possession of such thing as that ring? A family heirloom perhaps...?" It's definitely not, my family is just as normal as I am. Also, don't just call me handsome out of nowhere.

I'm definitely blushing after her comment. "Um... I can't explain the ring, though I didn't have it until you pointed out... I can explain these monsters though." Can I? How does one tell a semi-naked warrior lady that the world is about to end?

Hell, why am I even blushing at her casual compliment? The world is Seriously about to end...! Actually now that I think about it... There is that phenomenon where someone develops feelings after being saved, and so... Shut up me.

She really is unbelievably beautiful though.

The girl shakes her head. "Tell me after I explain something to you. It is very important so pay attention... A master is one who commands a servant, that servant is a heroic spirit who..." My mind goes blank, I can't even hear what she's saying next.

The Holy Grail War, a game where the [Players/Masters] compete using heroic spirit, manifestations of human legends, also known as [Servants/Swords]. To win a Master must use his Command Spells wisely, for they can temporarily do the impossible.

It's a massive PVP game, and the first edition so to speak would last weeks, and once a winner was decided, they would have their wish granted... Except this was all the synopsis of a now canceled game.

The girl finishes her explanation. "And that's all... This does not look like a standard Holy Grail War however, specially since we are not in the Moon." Hey, now that I think about it, didn't that game have some flavor text about the plot happening on the moon?

My jaw hits the floor. "Hey, Miss Way Too Cute, how would one enter this Holy Grail War in the first place?" Please prove me wrong, please tell me that the stupid game that was canceled today had nothing to do with all of this...!

She shrugs, though... I do see a slight reddish color on her cheeks. "I do not know. Perhaps they posted an invitation on that... internet thing? Either way, I doubt we are in a grail war." A sigh escapes her mouth. "This is all too strange, which is why I must ask... are you my Master?" I...

It's annoying, it's infuriating, it's stupid... But there's no doubt in my mind that the Holy Grail War is involved with the end of the world. I can't just dismiss how strange is that both of those things are happening on the same day after all...

But before any of that, I must answer her question. "Yeah, I think I am. By the way, I definitely joined the Holy Grail War by accident, 'cause I thought it was a video game." And that might have saved my life. I doubt I would have a servant otherwise.

She nods. "I see. Idiot." Ah! An immediate punishment, who are you auntie Rider...!? I feel like I'm forgetting something important. "Nonetheless, I shall be your blade. I do not know who you enemies are, but soon enough they shall no longer breathe." That sounds... good?

I get up, it's easy now that my leg is healed. "I-I see... by the way, what's your name? Heroic Spirits are supposed to have been real people right?" At least that's what the game said... "Oh, my name is Hideaki Emiya, sorry I was rude just now." I can't ask for a name without giving mine in return after all.

She waves me off. "It's fine, I took no offense. My name is... My class is Saber." I see... I suppose that makes sense, considering you are carrying a huge light sword and all that. I'm glad I got the class that looked the strongest. "I am... The scourge, Attila the Hun." H-huh...?

I blink in confusion, hoping she will elaborate on that statement. "It is not a pleasing name, correct? I agree. Simply call me Altera, thank you." She very much does not elaborate! Also, Altera and Atilla aren't too different, are they!?

Her sword disappears in a flash of light, and she crosses her arms. "Now that pleasantries have been exchanged, point me at the enemy. No longer shall you be tormented, Master." Oh, she's no longer calling me boy, I don't know how to feel about that...

And I also don't know how to feel about what I'm about to tell her... "About that..." I take a deep breath, and hold back laughter. Not because the situation is funny of course, but because... I don't know what to do. "The enemy is... this woman called BB." At least I can put a name to her.

I continue my explanation, there's no point in hiding the truth. "She said that... that this thing called Moon Cell will end humanity in thirty days. This is the first one, and she's making those monsters rain... though she also destroyed all eletronics." Saying that feels unreal.

Silence fills the room, the only sound hears is that of those monsters trying and failing miserably to break the ice. Funnily enough, that's kind of how I feel right now, like a man who's failing to talk with his date.

Altera chuckles, it sounds creepy coming from her. "What a miserable fate." Her words sound surprisingly spiteful... I don't know what to take of her reaction, but... Really, how is a human supposed to react to the armageddon anyways?

She looks up. "It appears our enemy is the the host for the Holy Grail War then." Huh...? Don't tell me that this Moon Cell thing is responsible for the war... So things really are connected! "Yes, how... how wond-." She stops herself.

And then she looks back at me. "For now I shall follow you through the rabbit hole. The moon is my enemy, and Atilla the Hun shall do her best to save humanity from destruction." Just like the me from before, it sounds like she's holding back laughter. I feel our reasons for it are different though.

An awkward smile appears on my face. "G-good? So what should our first move be?" Can I even trust her? This whole Moon Cell thing is confusing me... probably because I was freaking out through her explanation of the Grail War.

That said... there is a strange feeling rising on my chest, I think it's that annoying thing called hope. I mean, did Attila the Hun of all people just declare that they're going to save the world!? This day has been crazy...

She raises an eyebrow. "How am I supposed to know? You are the master here, correct?" A slight smile appears on her face. "I have been given no objectives or instructions, besides the ones you have granted me." I...

Isn't she a legendary war tactician though... Well, whatever, for some reason a nuke just dropped on my lap, so I have to find some way of launching it at the Moon. I guess. A first move huh...

A thing far more important than the world comes to mind. "M-my family! I have to check on my family...!" Right now those monsters are probably attacking them...! And shit, I have to save Taiga and Rin too!

Altera's sword appears on her hands yet again. "Very well... Though they are most likely dead." My heart stops beating. "These creatures... they're made to kill normal people, I imagine no mage shall lose their life to them, but those who lack mystery stand no chance." That's...!

Like I care! "Well, last time you told me I was dead already, and then you were proven wrong, were you not?" I have to save my family, at least them...!

She slowly nods. "You are correct. Then... taking the rooftops would be a bad idea since they're coming from rain..." She looks at her ice walls. "Follow me closely Master, and guide my blade. I shall cut you a path to your family." With a swing of her sword, fire hot enough to melt her ice flies out, opening a way out.

Stay safe everyone, I will be there soon!
