Merry Christmas, you filthy animal! Here's what I got done this week:

  • Added colorization functionality for each individual accessory in the Giantess Customizer
  • Added a system to keep track of the currently selected object for each category in the Giantess Customizer
  • Added and simplified default color buttons for all categories (except accessories) in the Giantess Customizer
  • Made sprites and color buttons automatically switch to their default colors when a different sprite is selected

With my entire list consisting of Run From Me progress, I figured I'd shine a little light on what I've been up to!

The Giantess Customizer is coming along nicely and is slowly taking shape into a nice, streamlined, robust system. Well, on the surface, anyways. Code-wise it's... well, let's just say there's a single behemoth of a script controlling 90% of it -- 700 lines and counting -- and that's after I reorganized the system to be simpler and easier to debug.

Going into specifics, the "Default" buttons, which set each sprite color back to its default with a single click, has been surprisingly tricky. The concept is simple enough, but the execution has been akin to fitting a book into a bookshelf that's already overstuffed as it is. The good news is that I've made major progress on these little buggers this week, and with a bit more work the colorization system for the sprites will be nearly complete!

As far as the customizer as a whole goes, there's still a few major tasks to complete. There's the addition of randomization buttons to... well, randomize the colors and sprites; these buttons should be simple, but may end up causing issues like the default buttons have. Then there's the matter of saving and loading outfits, and as some of you may remember from Grape Escape, save systems have caused me quite the problems in the past.

Finally -- something I only just thought about today -- is making sure colorization of sprites only applies where I want the colorization to happen. In other words, if you choose an eye sprite that has one eye closed, the eye lids shouldn't turn green if you want green eyes. This... may take some time to figure out, depending on how my current system behaves. Seriously, not even I know how it's gonna behave on this one.

While I work on finishing up the customizer and finishing up the 3D model, I'm going to deep-dive into researching games similar to Run From Me -- specifically, top-down runners. I'm gonna play any that I can find online and take notes on what makes them fun or unfun. From there, I'll adjust the gameplay accordingly until I have something I'm comfortable settling on.

Anyhoo, I'm gonna... go... sleep. I'm not even entirely sure if what I wrote here is legible; my brain is officially scrambled from Christmas at the cookie store. Taco Bell tomorrow! I'll see you guys again next week!

PS: If you know of any top-down runners I could play (or in the case of now-defunct flash games, watch), let me know! I'll take all the sources I can get! :)

Don't tempt me to go into a higher tier for one month xD

Haha, I'll be fully honest: I would wait. Once I finish the customizer prototype, it's straight back to 3D modeling! :P (Also payments will still be paused until my first animation, so you aren't gonna be missing out on anything until then. :) )
