At last, my favorite month is here! Here's what I got done this week:

  • Published 3D Adventures Part 13
  • Finished 3D Adventures Part 14 (to be published next week)
  • Finished adjusting the face normals (lighting) on the face... for now
  • Cleaned up texture on the nose so it's invisible from the front
  • Gave the nose an "outline"
  • Fixed an issue in which the model's seams were visible only from a distance

So I've started working on updating the lighting on the model, and it's been... interesting. I've been playing around with the normals (specifically on the face) and sometimes it's really hard to see the magnitude of the changes I make until I go too far with it. Like, "Oops, now it looks like there's a crater in her face from the front" kind of too far.

Despite the tricky journey, however, I managed to make the nose invisible from the front and added an outline of sorts on the nose, much like the source of my art style. It definitely looks more stylized this way, but now I'm noticing that the lips need an update to make them look less uncanny. More canny, if you will.

I'm totally using that joke in 3D Adventures.

Anyways, we're closing in on the final few tasks before rigging! In fact, this practically is the final task -- just make the face look better. It's hard making that mug look natural with the anime style, but by golly I'm gonna do it!

But I've gotta stay focused and take it one step at a time. My next step: shove a taco directly into my face hole. Preferably my mouth. I'll see you guys again next week!

Looks very much like a 3D anime character! If you watched any anime that is actually rendered in 3D (like Ajin, Demi-human) you might see some interesting inspiration! But probably find something more in your style XD

Woohoo! Thank you! :D I've got a 3D anime game that I'm using for style inspiration (among other sources). I'll cover that in 3D Adventures Part 14 next week. :)

Is ResizeMe an inspiration for you by any chance? Don't be ashamed if it is... There isn't many good developers who make giantess games, that are not just "here's porn, but you click buttons!"

MilesMouse

ResizeMe has been a huge inspiration for me both as an artist and as a game dev! :D That's not *the* art style reference, however.

Dude... I just had my first 3D modelling lesson last week... It is so painful and hard to do this... I fully understand why you call it an adventure now xD

It's a LOT to take in at first, but sooo unbelievably satisfying when you start to make sense of things and get better at it! Keep going with it -- you've got this! :D
