Fry Fries Fried Fries on a Freezing Friday. Try saying that 5 times fast! Here's what I got done this week:

  • Created an object pooling system to spawn and despawn the obstacles
  • Created a few variations of obstacle setups that spawn in at random

I finally got the obstacle spawn system finished! It wasn't too much work; it was just a matter of finding the time to implement the darn thing. :P I'll need to modify some numbers here and there to make the game feel much better -- right now the pacing feels too fast for the obstacles yet too slow for the stomping. It'll be something I'll tweak before the first release.

Additionally, I can't help but feel the game is missing something. I'd like to circle back to secondary objectives (the primary being to survive). I'm still really digging the Paperboy idea where you're trying to deliver papers or otherwise test your accuracy amidst the chaos, granted the chaos would need to be toned down for that. I also like the idea of you trying to save other people along the way for extra points, which could be the secondary or tertiary objective. I'll play around with some ideas; if you have any ideas of your own, do tell! :D

Other than that, there's a handful of small things I'd like to implement before the first release, including but not limited to keeping the player above the giantess. You guys came up with lots of good ideas there; I just have to pick at least one and implement it.

Anyhoo, that's enough thinking out loud for now! Seriously, you're embarrassing us all. Now go send this Taco Bell through the time machine so I can eat it in the past. I'm starving! I'll see you guys again next week!

I’ve got it! A paperboy themed super hero! He delivers justice also your mail. That way it can fit those objectives of delivering stuff and also saving people. It’s exciting to see progress on the game!

How about... if we were supposed to be the boyfriend, we are at the same time the paper-boy, but also we need to engage in dialogue with the giantess? If we make her more angry, she stomps faster, if we manage so soothe her, we can even win the game with a GOOD ENDING!

Hmm... I like the dialogue idea, but it would be hard to pick dialogue options while dodging obstacles, and pausing the game for it would would be a bit frustrating for those enjoying the fast-paced gameplay. I do really like the idea of the player's dialogue options changing the difficulty of gameplay, though! I'm gonna write that down and see if it fits in with a different game idea (or make it a game idea on its own). ^_^

You could make it so, that you have to "collect" the dialogue options... like a circle with a letter "a" and "b" show up on the map and if you walk into them your character answers corresponding dialogue... you could also make options in the menu to automatically pick the diverging options or random options for those who won't like the idea...
