Grab some popcorn and turn out the lights! It's Friday! Here's what I got done this week:
- Finished throwing everything together and released the Cinematic Update!
- Made non-menu sounds pause while the game is paused.
- Roughly sketched out the first 3 1/2 pages of the comic.
- Continued fleshing out the comic characters.
It's finally done! It's far from perfect, but darn it if I'm not proud of this thing! I'll refrain from pointing out the flaws in the animation so as not to burst any bubbles, but believe me when I say that the errors in the animation are glaring every time I see them! >_<
So, what did I learn with this update? I'm not a 2D animator. Not at alllll. I love looking at 2D animation and I love learning about how to make them, but... I think I'm gonna refrain from making 2D cinematics in the future. It's rewarding, but soooo draining for me. 3D animations, on the other hand, are still on the table. I'm still working on learning Blender, slowly and inconsistently! :D
Beyond getting the update out, I took it fairly easy this week and put a lot of focus on working on the comic. The sketching process is slower than I'd like, and if I can make 3D models of my characters I can pose and trace, making the process a thousand times faster. But alas, Blender once again is the bottleneck there.
TL;DR: Blender is evil but also holds the keys to life itself.
Now then, I'mma eat some Taco Bell and pass the heck out. It's been a busy few months. @_@ I'll see you guys again next week!
