Progress Report 7/24/20 (Patreon)

It finally happened, folks. I finished and published 1.3! Here's what I got done this week:

  • Decided on a DAW (music-making program) called LMMS and learned it.
  • Made the game over melody and added it in.
  • Finished adding in all the sound effects for each CG animation.
  • Also added in sound effects for the gallery.
  • Added the ability to toggle "Clean Feet Mode".
  • Added the ability to toggle mid-game dialogue.
  • Added the ability to toggle each individual CG.
  • Added a "Features" tab in the settings menu to house all these darn toggles!
  • Made it so CG toggle names remain hidden until the respective CG is unlocked (to avoid spoilers).
  • Added a desktop icon for the standalone version.
  • Found and fixed a bazillion bugs that I found -- you guessed it! -- AFTER compiling!

This, ladies and gentlemen, is what is known in the video game industry as "crunch time". I had a week to finish this stuff, and I friggin' did it! There are still a tiny handful of things left to add for 1.3, but all in all the big stuff is done and out of the way! Er... minus the bugs that happen in the web version and only the web version. I... don't have the energy to deal with those right now...

Now then, why are you still sitting here reading this boring post? Get out there and play 1.3!!

Me? I'm gonna go do something else, like go outside or something. Or sleep. Sleep sounds good... I'll see you guys when I wake up next Friday!

Oh yeah, my bad. Didn't think of that. I am pretty sure the people on the side of the earth, where the sun will stay for a week won't mind. :D

First, I'd like to apologize for not commenting on last week's Friday update. Now, just sit there and let me praise your work. I think I played 1.3 for like an hour or two. I didn't want to comment until I gave it some time and at least unlocked all of the CG endings. I have to say, it was well worth the wait. The in game dialogue is fun. The CGs all look absolutely fantastic. I think I'm in love with Grape Stomp-chan. She doesn't realize this though and she keeps squishing me! Seriously, I could only manage a high score of 72. It was very fun though. I almost found myself screaming "Grape Stomp-chan, why!?!" on multiple occasions. I would say that all of your hard work is more than paying off. It's inspiring to see what one person can do when they set their mind on it. Thank you so much for your efforts. Also, isn't there supposed to be some celebratory Taco Bell today? We can't forget about that! Anyway, I hope you a fantastic weekend!

I've got two of the CGs so far, they're pretty good =P. One small bug though, IDK if it's just me, but when you change resolution in the menu, it changes it back when you start up the game.

Ah, yeah, I've encountered that one. Are you playing in windowed mode? Opening the game in windowed mode puts it at its default value automatically, but it should keep your settings if you open it in full screen. According to my notes, this one is a bug with Unity, which would explain why I wasn't able to fix it. ^^;

Top ten saddest moments in anime: Grosky was never noticed by Grape Stomp-senapi. :( First off, your apology is not accepted. I expect repayment in the form of a virgin sacrifice. >:( (In all seriousness, though, you're totally fine. :P) Secondly: holy crap, 72?! I had to get to get to 60mL during my testing of the standalone version, and I'm gonna be honest... I struggled hard! Props to you for making it that far! I'm probably gonna change some numbers around in 1.4, heh... Thirdly: as always, thank you so much for the kind words!! :D I want to work on 1.4 immediatley, but I NEED to take a break after this week. Whether I like it or not. :P Finally: You better believe that I just finished some Taco Bell, and in record time, too! >:D You have a fantastic weekend, too! Keep trying to get Grape Stomp-chan to notice you -- I'm sure she will someday!
