"I know you're feeling smooth, in the groove. Isn't that the thing that comes before a fall?" --The Host of Caritas I love it when I can pull a quote that sums up the theme of the episode. In this case, of course, it's that Angel and co have been riding high on the news they got at the end of the last season that there is a proverbial light at the end of the tunnel, setting themselves up for a "fall" like the one that occurs in this episode. When he takes their whiteboard of cases down before heading off to visit Faith, it serves as an acknowledgment that he recognizes that he should be focused not on the end goal but on just helping where he can--because doing so is worth it even without the vague possibility of a prophesied reward at some point in the future. It's a pretty strong start to the season! I used to think the climactic scene where Angel has a LITERAL JOUST in the middle of downtown Los Angeles was kind of goofy, but you know what? It's too fun to complain about. One thing I'll point out is that this is the point at which the Angel DVDs inexplicably switch from 4:3 to 16:9. Seasons 3 through 5 were shot with 16:9 in mind, but Season 2 wasn't; consequently, there are some (not that many, but when you notice them they're pretty jarring haha) mistakes visible in the footage this season that were not present in the original 4:3 broadcasts. One of the most prominent ones is during the cold open in this episode. When Angel, Cordy, and Wes are marching into the gym, there's a shot in which we see them reflected in a mirror, in which Angel, of course, is invisible... except for the fact that David Boreanaz is clearly visible on the right side of the screen waiting to join the shot. :D I personally use VLC's crop feature to crop the video back down to 4:3 when watching this season for that reason, though even that may not be perfect (it's possible that the "middle" section of the video wasn't always what was shown in the original broadcast; as far as I know, there are no files that show what the original broadcast looked like floating out there for comparison).

The Oracle Witch

Its such a fun opening episode. From the first 5 mins where they bust in the gym and the mirror scene is still iconic lol. "No reflection let me fix that" SMASH lol to meeting the green guy, cordy n wes meeting gunn officially and thinking he had a gun 😂 meeting the green guy and learning angel thinks mandy the song is pretty lol pretty enough to know the lyrics makes me wonder about the rest of his music taste haha i think we need a list from cj on music picks haha
