Hello, one and all!

It's finally here.

The first Crosshead Team creation, a pack of almost 600 assets for DungeonDraft, and 3 maps for the MAY backlog. With enough maps still coming to fill JUNE and JULY on backorder, and even more assets by the end of this month.

(includes tags for all objects, colorable objects, and several brush options)

TEAM IN TRAINING

Although I had planned on releasing the first introduction to the Team pack some weeks ago, I thought it could be a lot more interesting to really hunker down and take the time to tackle all the different techniques for creating map content instead of just doing the basics. This spurred a bit of a crazy period where I was working all night and day, going back and forth between the two of us, trying to find the perfect balance for the designs of our artwork.

On one hand, I really think doing this will have made it a lot easier making content together from now on, instead of doing it the long way around and having to come back to our inconsistencies with later updates, on the other hand it meant I felt really stressed out not posting or updating until it was done.

I'm glad it's finally out there, but I'm not planning on doing it like that again. Not without weekly updates or something of the sort for the future.

BRUSHES

The update doesn't just contain a whole series of new objects, mainly ones for building interiors, but also a couple of tests for terrain textures and the brushes that come with them. One design features the original style of having less linework and a more painterly approach:

And another features a style of doing linework that leans closer to the rest of the linework in the assets. There is also a combination available of brushes with linework and the same texture without mixing it up. I'd love to hear your thoughts on what works best. The linework ones work especially well with path textures, the ones I use for height and edges of terrains.

WALLS

Originally walls in DungeonDraft came with a texture layered on top. Now the new DungeonDraft has a setting to turn of these textures making it a lot easier for me to create better walls without having to tweak them going back and forth between the software. This new pack features a bunch of new walls we made, but make sure to check the map settings for BUILDING WEAR if you'd like to see them in their original coloring:

As mentioned before I'm not planning on doing an asset rush like this again. I really wanted to focus on training my new companion in this project as fast as possible, but because of this I spent a lot less time on the site and the discord, I don't plan on doing it again.

You'll have all the content updates filled in by the end of July. Plan on finishing up maps for June and July later this month. Updating the website with all the user-made maps. Including animated assets and all that jive!

In August I plan on doing a little Patron Appreciation Month, as a token of my thanks. So be sure to check up on discord, and send me all your suggestions for assets. The goal is to try and make as many of them as I can find.

Thank you all!

I am absolutely in love with these new assets. I saw the email in the morning and jumped out of bed to try them. I don't even know where to begin with praise for the new interior assets. I did notice in experimenting that the Copper One path has what seems to be a one pixel thick transparency error where it tiles, just figured I'd let ya'll know.

Alex Duplessie

Those look great! How do I access the new assets through your site? Has it replaced the 'Crosshead v1.0' file? Thanks for your help!

Crosshead

Yeah paths have a tendency to break a lot easier than other objects etc. I'll take a look to see if I can fix it but very often it's an issue with the software I can't seem to fix. Too bad because they can be really useful. Thanks though for letting me know I'll be sure to take a look

Crosshead

It's called CH Team. You can find it on the site right next to the Crosshead one. Or in the assets in Dropbox or in the may folder in last 3 months

Really looking forward to your future work. This stuff looks amazing. If you do any steampunk please give it a shot.

Browsing through everything alone is such a joy! I can't wait to use it to design maps. Thanks so much for your work!

Ferdinand Göldner

Just checked it out. This is awesome! Thanks so much for making this!

Love your maps and was happy to see you sharing your assets. I've got everything to work except for objects. Can't seem to find your objects in tag category or even if I search in all. Any suggestions?
