OH THIS Made up for all the things that IRRITATED me today!! LOL Great singing goes a LONG WAY.

ALREADY the judging panel has AMAZING chemistry although that doesn't surprise me at all.

NEON, Donghun and Jay are definitely favourites off the top of my head.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how this goes even though the group is likely to go in the direction I'd feared, boring ballad songs with no personality but hopefully the future episodes will prove me wrong!

Enjoy!

Great!!! I was gonna watch this show on my own time but now I can watch it with you lol!!!

Ebony Coco

Lee Da Hee is an actress. My favorite Kdrama of hers that she starred in is Search: WWW. MAMAMOO sung the ost for the show, and she and Moonbyul are friends, iirc.

Ebony Coco

My top 4 right now are Jay, Choi Haram (the one with the deep voice who sang in the preview for next week), Donghun, and Neon.

I am with you about Seokhoon, that man is fine. I also love the fact he has tattoos but he has such a nerdy, polished image most wouldn't expect it. He has a variety show on Youtube you can sometime see them in. God he's so fine. Also it's really nice to see Jeup here, he's part of my list of nugu boy idols who are the most technically skilled singers since probably EXO (him and DKZ's Mingyu are the top). Jeup debuted in 2016 in a group named IMFACT but they didn't succeed and they eventually disbanded, he did his military service, and now he's here. He's really great. Also, since you like actual vocal talent, I'll discuss two other guys that are vocally talented but relatively unknown you could look into if you ever wanted to be refreshed, especially in light of the lack of male main vocalists nowadays, starting with DKZ's Mingyu. Most people have no clue who he is (he's part of the group that Jaechan from the BL 'Semantic Error' is in) but when I tell you he is the best singer in all of 4th gen I don't lie. Go to any place from reddit to youtube comment sections to anything in between and anyone that has any actual vocal training or knowledge and know about him all say the same thing, he's literally the best, especially compared to every other 4th gen male vocalist. I wish he participated in this show smh. If you want to hear about another more recent vocal gem most people don't know about then you should check out TNX's Junhyeok, who's a standout in both his group and other late 4th gen boy groups. He's like maybe 20 but his tone, his skillset and his notes are all so amazing. I wish he was promoted more. I make it a point in general to note anyone that has remarkable skills, unique tones, or abilities and unfortunately a lot of them are unknown, either because of small companies or just not having the opportunity to promote or the lackluster music they are stuck into. But yes, check out DKZ's Mingyu and TNX's Junhyeok if you ever want to see tangible talent (both of them aren't in this show but they're still great).

My top 4 is Jay , je up,donghun and neon

pisila

I instantly fell in love with Neons tone when he began his verse! He was definitely my top tier.

Vibby

I'm so happy donghun is in this!

Hannah

I second checking out dkz's mingyu and the group in general. They are so talented it's insane, having majority of the group be musical actors really speaks for itself imo. Mingyu, Kyoungyoon and Jonghyeong are seriously top tier vocalists, I'm still mad over kyoungyoon leaving, his whole situation was and still is incredibly unfair and inhumane. I hope he's doing ok :( ANYWAYS, stan dkz lol.

Hannah

I'm only watching this show for Seunghun from CIX, it's such a shame that he didn't get many votes ugh, hope he really gets a chance to showcase his vocals in future episodes because he is actually insane!

Koko3op

Oooo yess I’ve seen the clip of Mingyu singing in the karaoke and I’d agree he’s amazing technically!! And even tonally. He might be giving Xdinary Heroes Jooyeon a run for his money. Junhyeok sounds a bit typical tone wise but I like him. He sounds like Taehyun but with better technique

Ebony Coco

Kyoungyoon situation always makes me so mad. Thankfully, he recently joined Instagram and had been posting singing clips there. His voice is absolutely incredible. One of my favorite voices in all of Kpop along with DKZ's Mingyu, ONF's Hyojin, ONEWE's Yonghoon, E'LAST's Yejun (particularly because of his tone), and ONE PACT's Jay.

h

Omg you actually started this? Ahh I can’t wait to watch it with you!!

Angel Burns

A.C.E is my ult group and I am so happy that poeple are seeing Donghun's talent!

Johanna

So happy to see Park Jeup being able to show his vocals like this. Been an IF (his groups fandom name) since 2018 and he’s such a talented and humble person. Really wish for more people to recognise his talent through this show. Thank you for the nice comments!

Helen

Ah, I’m so happy for Donghun and I hope this show will give him and A.C.E some more attention from the public. Btw, since you like Donghun, have you checked out his group before? I don’t think I’ve ever seen them on your channel.

Koko3op

I've mentioned A.C.E Several times!! Take me higher was on my top 25 kpop songs of all time and Donghun was in my first top 10 male vocalists video!

Joe B

Ah my husband Yeo One is in this. He’s always been my Pentagon bias. Edit: Okay I’m back after finishing the video and omgggg Donghun is incredible I love his voice in ACE too. Neon’s tone is my favvvvv.

Helen

Oh I must have missed that, I’ll probably go back to those videos:)

RDM22

Omg I saw the "Don't Go" performance separately on Youtube and ran here just to see how many times you would scream and say "ARE YOU DUMB?!?!?" HAHAHAHAHHAHA I'm so glad we finally get a show like this more focused on singing, because.........lol. In survival shows, obv I like seeing progress from the contestants, but it's refreshing to have a show like this with a decent amount of talent and no one starting from absolute rock bottom (rip half of the boys planet auditions). I love that with this group, we can spend time focusing on the nuances, like their tone, their style, are they putting their tongue in weird positions, etc. I was also mad at Neon bc wtf was that song choice for the check-in, when he can clearly do so much more??? I hope he learns to really find his sound on this show---I can hear the influence of some other Korean R&B artists in his voice, but I hope his actual career outside of this show doesn't become a mirror of those other artists. This comment is mad long but last two notes: yay for Jay's redemption arc and Donghun???? I wasn't familiar with him before but I'm excited to see what else he's got.

Aisyah

Love this reaction!

Jackie

Question for you. Is Seunghan the one who did the high note and ad libs in CIX new song Lovers or Enemies? I thought it was fantastic

Hannah

Yes he is! 9 times out of ten when you hear someone going off in the back it’ll be him haha :)

Koko3op

Hahaha you knew!! And yeah Neon was a TROLL for that! I'm very excited to see what he does next.

Neeko

Neon, Donghun and Jay ate this premiere all the way up! I'm a ballad guy so I am being put ON to some amazing vocalists to check out!

Edward Lee

lol, your dislike of ballads is so funny/entertaining but complaining about ballads on a korean singing competition show is like complaining about rice when ordering sushi rolls. Thank god you're a fan of korean singing competition shows now and not in the 1990s-2010s (you would've died/fallen asleep). But in all seriousness, there actually is a valid reason why ballads are so prevalent in korean singing....not to go TOO anthropological but when korea was still basically a military state (basically 1950s-1990s) the government controlled all tv waves and the ONLY thing allowed to be broadcast were either ballads or trot. It's just a PART of the music industry

Akshi Ankita

Hey can’t wait for the 2nd episode we have one of your favourite male singer joining the judges

Koko3op

Makes complete sense tbh. And I do love ballads and slow music more than upbeat music BUT the melodies and chord progression has to move me. The ballads they love are very melancholic and dramatic and just BORING 😭. If they did stuff like Bonnie Raitt I can’t Make You love me or Truly madly deeply, kiss from a rose or some rock influences I’d be super intrigued. But it’s great to know that context for sure cos I didn’t get the love.

Edward Lee

yeah, shes an actress but lately she's really done more hosting (she hosted Queendom 1 but more importantly, the host of all the Singles Inferno dating shows which is INSANELY popular in korea).

Edward Lee

yeah, unique/more interesting ballads kinda dont exist anymore. There were def more in the 80s-90s but even then musicians were still fighting the conventional norms at the time so they still couldn't be too out there but you could still be a ballad singer AND an A+ star (and there were still rock bands then that did them to get to be able to be played on airwaves). These days it'd be difficult for a (popular) artist to even DO a unique ballad because no one really releases ballads since they don't make money really. There are rare cases like Lim Young Woong but his entire audience are like 40+ yr old women so even his songs are pretty standard. For most young artists the only avenue to sing ballads are doing an OST and if thats the case, then it's basically guaranteed that the song will be your standard chord structure and very cookie cutter. But honestly, korea just has always eaten up your standard chord structure/standard arrangement ballads

Edward Lee

and there ARE more bluesy/indie ballads out there but they're pretty niche and those artists just aren't promoted at all really. If you have time, there are artists like Heize, Seori, Yerin Baek, Bol4, Cacophony, Lee Jin Ah, Keembo, LeeHi, Rothy that you can check out. But if you're an IU or a taeyeon or a kpop group member, it's basically guaranteed that if you do a ballad it'll be pretty standard

Izak

just wondering if you will be continuing builld up?

J D

I want to see lee mujin on this show. realistically he'd be a judge but it'd be cool to see him as a contestant
