SURPRISE.

I'm going to start doing this for very select none k-pop albums because I enjoy reviewing albums more than anything.

Sonically, the producers ate this and conceptually I'm proud of his artistry.

His vocals HOWEVER, though they suit the mood, leave a lot to be desired personally to match the energy and complexity of the production.

Enjoy!

as someone who GREW UP with troye and got into the experimental and performative fun of kpop a couple years ago i LOOVE that you’re doing these album reviews!! and what a deserving album too. completely agree with your comments on what didn’t land…troye clearly wanted a very dancey and clubby vibe but wasn’t able to necessarily transform his voice and image to match (re: your comments on his dancing being awkward, his voice not matching the energy and Rush being straight up unlistenable). which is why to me the mellow ballads on the album hit the hardest—and have that signature style of his from his previous eras. but One of Your Girls OOOF what a slay!! I really agree that there is a delicate and sensual femininity that Troye nails and i would love to see him explore it further…plus it was just so joyous to see him playing in drag and getting to straddle ross lynch LOL
